(Dan Tri) - Ukrainian armed forces may target military facilities in Russia's Rostov region with long-range ATACMS missiles, the Wall Street Journal reported on November 24, citing sources.

The source pointed out that four military airports in Russia's Rostov region are potential targets. In addition, US officials are also said to have identified a list of 200 military targets within the range of missiles produced by this country.
US President Joe Biden is said to have agreed to let Ukraine use the ATACMS long-range missile system to attack targets deep inside Russian territory.
On November 19, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Ukrainian army launched many US-made ATACMS missiles into Bryansk province, according to TASS news agency.
According to the ministry, Russia shot down five ATACMS missiles with S-400 and Pantsir air defense systems, while another missile was damaged and fell on a Russian military site in Bryansk, causing a fire.
Russian President Vladimir Putin on November 21 revealed details of two attacks on his country's territory involving Western missiles. He said that the Ukrainian missile attack in the Kursk region targeted a command post, injuring a number of soldiers providing external security and service personnel.
According to experts, President Biden's decision to "pave the way" for Ukraine could help Kiev keep the bridgehead in Kursk province, which is considered a valuable card for future peace talks. However, even if ATACMS can help Kiev keep a part of Kursk's territory to some extent, this weapon is unlikely to change the course of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
