Vietnam's investment situation abroad in January 2025

(MPI) – In January 2025, Vietnam's total investment capital abroad reached more than 83 million USD, 5.1 times higher than the same period last year.

In January 2025, Vietnamese investors invested in 10 new projects abroad and did not adjust investment capital. Vietnam's total investment capital abroad reached more than 83 million USD (5.1 times higher than the same period).

Vietnamese investors have invested abroad in 05 sectors. Of which, the investment capital is most concentrated in the processing and manufacturing industry (accounting for 74.2% of capital, while in the same period there were no projects in this industry) and mining (accounting for 22.5%, 4.7 times higher than the same period). The construction sector; professional activities, science and technology; and information and communication account for a small proportion.

There are 8 countries and territories receiving investment from Vietnam in January 2025. The countries attracting the most investment capital are the Philippines (accounting for 39.4% of capital); Indonesia (accounting for 37.4% of capital). Meanwhile, in the same period, there were no projects invested by Vietnam in these 2 countries. Next is Laos (accounting for 22.3% of capital, 4.4 times higher than the same period). The remaining partners account for a small proportion.

Accumulated to the end of January 2025, Vietnam had 1,836 valid foreign investment projects with a total Vietnamese investment capital of more than 22.68 billion USD.

Of which, Vietnamese investors have invested abroad in 18/21 sectors, focusing most on mining (over 7 billion USD, accounting for 31% of capital); agriculture, forestry and fishery (nearly 3.4 billion USD, accounting for 15% of capital) and information and communication (over 2.84 billion USD, accounting for 13% of capital).

The localities receiving the most investment from Vietnam are Laos (nearly 5.7 billion USD, accounting for 25% of capital); Cambodia (nearly 2.94 billion USD, accounting for 13% of capital); Venezuela (nearly 1.83 billion USD, accounting for 8% of capital)./.
