Increase both quality and quantity
Mr. Nguyen Binh Dinh, General Secretary of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation and Deputy General Secretary of the World Vovinam Federation, said that the good news at this year's world vovinam championship is the breakthrough in numbers when delegations such as Japan, Taiwan, Algeria, China, and Thailand have a larger force than in previous years. "In addition to countries and territories with many years of vovinam tradition, the growth of newly established delegations is a good sign for vovinam - Vietnamese martial arts. The next noteworthy thing is that after 4 days of competition, experts assessed that the level of international athletes has clearly improved. Teams such as Algeria and Cambodia have shown their strengths in the form event, while Russia and Iran have advantages in the combat events. Other teams such as France, Germany, Italy, and the Philippines are considered a new wind full of hope for the future," said Mr. Dinh.

The Thai Vovinam team, the host of the 33rd SEA Games in 2025, and the Lao Vovinam team have also shown remarkable progress after receiving support from experts from the Vietnam Vovinam Federation and the world. If they maintain their current investment, Thailand will have a strong force to take the lead in the 33rd SEA Games at home when Vovinam is likely to continue to be included in the competition program. In addition to competing, Vovinam athletes from other countries also take advantage of their precious time in Ho Chi Minh City to practice and interact with the host Vietnamese athletes to learn the quintessence of Vietnamese martial arts.
Constantly promote Vovinam
One of the notable responses from the delegations participating in this world vovinam championship is the wish that the World Vovinam Federation send experts to guide the latest changes in vovinam competition rules as well as update on the techniques of both fighting and fighting so that international delegations can quickly access them. "The recent World Vovinam Federation Congress in Ho Chi Minh City unanimously approved the adjustment of activities and regulations according to Olympic standards to integrate vovinam into major arenas such as ASIAD and the Olympics. The need for experts to guide, disseminate changes as well as improve the level of vovinam teams in countries is very large, but we still face certain difficulties and need to resolve them to implement. The ultimate wish of vovinam students everywhere is to soon have a vovinam academy in Vietnam as a training place for domestic and international athletes," said Mr. Nguyen Binh Dinh.
In order to increase the competitive opportunities for athletes from all countries at the 2023 World Vovinam Championship, the Organizing Committee has stipulated that each team can only register a maximum of 10 out of 18 competition events. "Each Vietnamese Vovinam athlete, in addition to the goal of competing fairly for titles, also plays the role of an ambassador to promote and spread the love of Vovinam to international friends. Generations of martial artists and coaches in more than 70 countries around the world have made tireless efforts over the past 85 years to bring Vovinam to millions of students. These efforts aim not only to develop the discipline, but also to spread the best cultural values of Vietnam, which are also the best values of humanity to more people across the five continents," said Mr. Mai Huu Tin, Chairman of the Vietnam Vovinam Federation.
