On the morning of October 31, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Trieu, Vice Chairman of Huong Thuy Commune People's Committee (Huong Khe District, Ha Tinh), said that the authorities and local people had found the body of an 8th grade student in the area who was swept away by floodwaters. The victim was NVD (a student at Phuc Dong Secondary School, Huong Khe District).
Many roads in Huong Khe district were deeply flooded due to prolonged heavy rain.
Previously, on the afternoon of October 30, D. was walking with his younger brother on a village road that was deeply flooded due to heavy rain when he accidentally slipped into a fast-flowing stream and was swept away.
The younger brother who was with him discovered the incident and called for help. However, due to heavy rain and flowing water, D. was submerged and went missing.
After receiving the news, local authorities mobilized forces and vehicles to the scene with local people to search.
At around 10 p.m. the same day, the authorities found D.'s body and brought it back to his family for the funeral.
According to the Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Huong Thuy commune, there is currently moderate rain in the commune and traffic routes in the area are still deeply flooded, causing disruption.
According to the report of Huong Khe District People's Committee, heavy rains lasting from the night of October 29 to 30 caused 3 local residents to be swept away by floodwaters and go missing. Currently, the authorities have found the bodies of an 8th grade student and a woman in Ha Linh Commune (Huong Khe District). The remaining person is still missing and the authorities are still actively searching for them.
