Finding a solution to build Mang Den Airport

On September 20, the Kon Tum Department of Transport said that the Provincial People's Committee has submitted a Master Plan for the development of the national airport and seaport system for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.

Mang Den Airport is centrally located and connects with airports in neighboring provinces.

Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Chairman of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee, said that he has directed relevant units to complete the Project to study the possibility of establishing Mang Den Airport. The Provincial People's Committee has submitted the proposal of Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee to the Ministry of Transport for consideration.

Kon Tum province recommends that the Ministry of Transport pay attention to submitting to the Prime Minister for approval soon, as a basis for investment in completing the infrastructure system, developing Kon Tum quickly and sustainably in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister.

"Mang Den Airport is an important driving force project, playing a very important role in promoting the socio-economic development of the province; connecting Kon Tum province and other provinces in the region with the centers and key economic regions of the country as well as countries in the region and the world; contributing to ensuring national defense and security in patrolling and controlling border areas; serving rescue work; and at the same time, it is an important driving force project of Kon Tum province that needs investment", said Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan.

According to the Kon Tum Department of Transport, after submitting to the Ministry of Transport, on September 13, the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee worked directly with the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV).

The Ministry of Transport's viewpoint supports the policy of studying the establishment of Mang Den Airport to promote the potential for tourism and service development, serving national defense, security, emergency, rescue and relief work in the region.

In the coming time, Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee will update the planning content into local planning; arrange and protect land funds in accordance with approved planning, have plans for planning and land use plans to ensure that land funds are ready to meet the conditions for investment in the construction of Mang Den Airport.

After the Prime Minister approved the addition of Mang Den Airport to the National Airport Network Planning, Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to implement the detailed planning of Mang Den Airport.

With the airport, Mang Den tourist area develops to new heights.

A representative of the Kon Tum Department of Transport said that the Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee will focus on researching a plan to hire a qualified and experienced consultant in planning work to ensure quality and efficiency, meeting the conditions of an airport built in a mountainous area with complex terrain and geology.

Coordinate with consulting units and agencies and units to review the proportion and growth rate of air passengers and the total number of tourists traveling to and from Mang Den tourist area to increase attractiveness for investors.

At the same time, review the natural conditions, potentials, and development advantages of the area to confirm the feasibility of building Mang Den Airport; determine the full area for military, defense, security, and search and rescue activities when needed; and review the land area occupied by the airport; on that basis, review the total investment, payback period, and ensure the feasibility of the project.

Also according to the Kon Tum Provincial Department of Transport, the Ministry of Transport has directed the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to urgently review and submit to the Ministry of Transport before September 25. After that, the Department of Planning and Investment urgently reviewed and advised the leaders of the Ministry of Transport to report to the Prime Minister before October 10 to add Mang Den Airport to the National Airport System Planning.
