Tiger Woods, owner of 15 majors and a record 82 cups on the PGA Tour, dropped to 1,307th place when the World Golf Ranking of Professional Men (OWGR) was updated on November 13.
This week's OWGR marks Woods' lowest drop since turning professional in 1997.

The previous low came in February of this year, when he was ranked 1,294th. The American then returned to the top 1,000 with a T45 finish at the Genesis Invitational, a special group on the PGA Tour that he chairs with a prize fund of $20 million in California. This is also the only tournament Woods has played in this year. In fact, Woods played in the Masters major in April but withdrew before the third round due to a recurrence of plantar fasciitis.
The OWGR has been in operation since 1986. In its history, Woods holds the record of 683 weeks at the top, including 281 consecutive weeks. Both of these records have yet to be broken.
Woods was in good shape earlier this month at El Cardonal in Mexico to inspect preparations for the PGA Tour’s Worldwide Technology Championship. He was in good shape, as evidenced by his brisk strides up the long steps behind the clubhouse. That raised the possibility that Woods could play again, perhaps most notably at the Hero World Challenge, a charity event he co-chairs on the PGA Tour, in the Bahamas this December.
