Saving electricity is not only an order but also requires effort and creating good habits from each individual to limit wasting electricity.

Turning off unnecessary devices now is contributing to "lighting up" the future for the environment and the economy.

In recent days, widespread heat has caused difficulties for people across the country. Due to the heat, the demand for electricity, especially electricity for daily life in urban areas, has increased sharply. To "cool down", there is no simpler solution than using electric cooling devices, but if used wastefully, the "heat" of the electricity supply problem will become more serious.

The El Nino phenomenon is forecast to cause high temperatures and reduced rainfall. Water levels in many hydroelectric reservoirs across the country are low or below the dead water level, so it is forecasted that electricity supply this summer may face many difficulties.

Recognizing this situation, the Government and the Prime Minister have directed in many forms early and from afar on ensuring electricity supply in the dry season of 2023, in which it is absolutely required not to let power shortages occur as well as noting specific solutions to overcome difficulties in electricity supply in recent times.

Looking further, since the beginning of his term, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has paid special attention to the issue of macroeconomic stability, ensuring major balances of the economy, including energy balances such as electricity and gasoline. Almost immediately after taking office, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had meetings with the Electricity Corporation and the Oil and Gas Corporation - the country's major energy corporations. The Prime Minister has resolutely directed the handling of difficulties and obstacles to revive and put into operation the Thai Binh 2 thermal power project and is continuing to promote the implementation of the O Mon Lot B Gas - Power project chain...

Although the electricity sector as well as relevant ministries and agencies must do their best to avoid power outages, there have been factors that have negatively affected the ability to ensure adequate power supply in the coming time, especially in the North. Among them, there are many problems that have lasted for many years and cannot be resolved in a day or two, including objective reasons such as severe drought that has caused most hydropower reservoirs in the North to be at dead water levels...

In that context, in addition to many solutions on power supply, transmission and distribution, the Prime Minister, the electricity industry and many functional departments all call for saving electricity.

Recently, the Prime Minister issued Directive 20/CT-TTg on enhancing electricity saving in the period of 2023 - 2025 and the following years; requiring the whole country to strive to save at least 2% of total electricity consumption annually; using electricity saving as a reward and discipline target...

Saving electricity is extremely necessary, especially when electricity waste in our country is still at a high level. This is considered a top important solution, both improving the quality of life, protecting the environment, increasing production and business efficiency, especially in the context of economic and social recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.

After each electricity meter, how to use electricity is almost the customer's right. But above all, saving electricity is not only an order but also a requirement for effort, creating good habits from each individual to limit the waste of electricity - very precious but not endless, nor does it come naturally. Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh himself also worries that even offices can save more electricity, such as turning off the lights in the hallways at night when there are no more people working...

Visiting and encouraging electricity workers 69 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh said: "The Fatherland needs electricity like the body needs blood."

Saving electricity is to preserve the "blood vessels" for each family as well as the whole economy. Many opinions say that the requirement to save electricity is not simply a call to raise awareness, but there needs to be strong enough sanctions along with policies to monitor the practice of saving electricity of businesses, offices, and households. For example, in some countries, when there is a power shortage, the Government issues regulations forcing people, businesses, and government agencies to save electricity with specific regulations such as what time to turn on the air conditioner, what time to turn it off, what temperature to set, even civil servants are not allowed to wear vests to work to save electricity...

Or recently, Ho Chi Minh City issued a document requesting departments, districts and towns to promote electricity saving, ensuring safe and stable electricity supply in the city, including a proposal to limit wearing vests when working and attending meetings. This directive was welcomed and highly appreciated by many people. Ho Chi Minh City saves 2.4 billion VND per day from electricity saving, which is a valuable lesson.

Wear appropriate clothes to save electricity, turn off electrical appliances when not in use, adjust the air conditioner appropriately..., a little bit of everything, small things add up, each person saves 1W/day, the electricity saving output of a country of 100 million people will be huge.

As Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has repeatedly stated, the electricity problem needs to be calculated comprehensively with all 5 factors: Power source, power load, power distribution, efficient and reasonable use of electricity and electricity price. In the context of the summer being forecast to be unusually hot this year, promoting the electricity saving campaign is extremely necessary. Using electricity reasonably and economically will help each person "cool off" from the hot weather and reduce the heat of the electricity supply problem. Turning off unnecessary devices right now is contributing to "lighting up" the future for the environment and the economy.
