Implementing Sub-project 1 on information poverty reduction (under Project 6 on communication and information poverty reduction) of the National Target Program (NTP) on sustainable poverty reduction for the period 2021-2025, in recent times, Cam Khe district has made efforts to deploy many solutions so that people can access useful information sources, contributing to changing awareness and proactively rising out of poverty.
Install and upgrade the loudspeaker system in Phuong Vi commune, contributing to improving the effectiveness of propaganda at the grassroots level.
According to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2021-2025, lack of information is one of the indicators of the criteria for lack of basic social services. Therefore, reducing information poverty is one of the important sub-projects of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction in this period. Comrade Bui Ba Dat - Head of the District Department of Culture and Information (VHTT) said: "In order for people to access information conveniently, popularizing Internet services, popularizing mobile networks, enhancing digital transformation, bringing information to the grassroots... are important, contributing to the successful implementation of the goal of sustainable poverty reduction".
From 2021 to present, Cam Khe district has always paid attention to allocating funds to implement the Sub-project on poverty reduction in information, focusing on the following tasks: Improving capacity for information and communication staff; producing press works to provide essential information; providing press publications to residential areas. With a large area, mainly rural areas, the grassroots loudspeaker system still has its own strengths, playing an important role in propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws and providing useful information to listeners.
Therefore, the District Department of Culture and Information consulted with the District People's Committee to arrange funds to upgrade and convert commune radio stations to apply information technology - telecommunications (smart radio). The district currently has 25 radio stations with 78 loudspeaker clusters applying information technology, of which 3 communes: Phu Khe, Yen Duong, Huong Lung and Cam Khe town installed smart radio stations. Smart radio helps save costs on equipping transmitters, antenna poles, and land funds. Broadcasting is done by simple operations on software installed on computers or mobile phones. In the coming time, the district will continue to arrange the budget (from digital conversion sources) to support the remaining communes to develop smart radio systems, striving to have 100% of communes and towns apply this model by 2025.
Despite being busy with farm work, listening to news from loudspeakers has become an indispensable daily habit of many people in Huong Chan 1 area, Huong Lung commune. Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan - Head of the area said: "My area has 170 households, of which 9 households are poor and near-poor. Every day, there are 3 time slots in the early morning, noon and evening, the loudspeaker system in the area broadcasts useful and timely news about the Party's policies and guidelines, the State's policies and laws. From diverse sources of information, suitable for the intellectual level of the people, it has helped people in the area grasp more information, knowledge and experience in economic development, learn many good practices, examples of getting rich to strive to escape poverty".
According to the results of the review of poor and near-poor households at the end of 2023, the poverty rate in Cam Khe district is 1.5%. There are no more people with revolutionary contributions who are poor or near-poor households in the district. Having access to information on policies, learning knowledge and experience in production, many people have changed their thinking and working methods, no longer waiting and relying on others, but proactively rising up to escape poverty.
In order to achieve the goal of reducing the poverty rate of the whole district to 1.4% by the end of this year, the district will continue to comprehensively implement poverty reduction communication work to provide information to people and officials working in poverty reduction. The focus is on disseminating effective poverty reduction projects and models; supporting people in using telecommunications, Internet services, and information technology applications, helping the poor to be more proactive in accessing and enjoying poverty reduction policies and mechanisms, social security as well as learning experiences and solutions to escape poverty sustainably.
