With the support and companionship of farmers' associations at all levels, farmers' associations in Tien Hai district have exploited their potential and strengths, proactively learned from experience, and boldly invested in cultivation and animal husbandry, contributing to improving efficiency and diversifying agricultural production models in the locality.

Mr. Hoang Quoc Viet, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Tien Hai district, said: Currently, the total annual crop growing area of the district is over 27,800 hectares, the production value of the crop sector is estimated at over 1,000 billion VND; the livestock production is estimated at over 800 billion VND; the aquaculture area is over 5,100 hectares, the value is estimated at over 1,800 billion VND. The whole district has 23 medium and large-scale farms and 1 comprehensive livestock cooperative. Craft villages continue to be maintained and developed with products such as: crocheting, bamboo and rattan weaving, hat making, mat weaving... contributing to solving jobs for many rural workers.
To create conditions for members to develop diverse agricultural economic models, the association at all levels has proactively coordinated with sectors and organizations to organize over 300 training courses to transfer science and technology to over 29,500 members. Along with that, implementing training courses on applying information technology to serve agricultural production has brought positive results. Farmers' associations at all levels have guided cadres and members to exploit the usefulness of smartphones to build fanpages and zalo groups to carry out work and trade agricultural products. Through social networking platforms and e-commerce platforms, helping cooperatives, cooperatives, and farmer members to widely promote agricultural products, promptly update market prices, and provide technical guidance. In addition, farmers' associations at all levels in the district also provide credit with banks, increasing capital sources for nearly 10,000 members to borrow over 639 billion VND to develop production. Thanks to that, more and more effective agricultural production models of farmers in the district appear.
After failing with the pig farming model due to the impact of African swine fever, farmer Phan Van Quang, Dong Xuyen commune, boldly switched to developing a commercial snail farming model. Mr. Quang shared: My family started raising snails in 2020 with 4 ponds with a total area of over 3,000m2 . When I started, I encountered many difficulties due to lack of experience; the changing weather and the unsuitable farming environment caused many snails to die. After 2 snail farming seasons, I suffered a loss of about 65 million VND. Currently, with the support of the farmer association, my family's model has stabilized and has been recognized as a 3-star OCOP product. In 2023, I will sell more than 2 tons of snails to many restaurants in the Northern region, earning a profit of over 100 million VND.

As for farmer Nguyen Doc Ngu, Dong Co commune, who is familiar with the seafaring profession, he is very knowledgeable about fish. When the commune's Farmers' Association created favorable conditions, he boldly converted a 4-hectare rice-growing area in a flooded area to dig a pond to raise fish.
“Realizing that raising pure freshwater mullet is economically efficient, I contacted many places to buy breeds and tried raising them on 1 hectare. Although I only released the breeds once, I was able to harvest commercial fish for 2 years. My family mainly sells fish according to orders with an output of about 2 tons/year,” Ngu shared.
Not only does he get rich from fish farming, he also has additional income from his fruit garden. According to Mr. Ngu, his family earns about 300 million VND in profit each year from the agricultural production model.
Continuing to promote the achieved results, in the coming time, the Farmers' Association of Tien Hai district will promote propaganda work, instruct members to develop effective collective economic models, focusing on groups of households participating in the production of the same product and borrowing capital through the association. Mobilize farmer members to participate in forms of cooperation, develop occupations, traditional craft villages and small-scale industries, create jobs on the spot. Strengthen the "5-house" linkage, promote activities to support farmers in science and technology, vocational training, and borrowing capital. Continue to guide members to produce and do good business to build product brands that meet OCOP standards. Along with that, promote the implementation of the movement of good production and business associated with restructuring the agricultural sector, land accumulation, planning of commodity production areas, restructuring of crops and livestock, and developing concentrated livestock farming.
