Tien Giang: Spreading beautiful images from the model of Bowl of Love Porridge

(ABO) In order to encourage the spirit and share some of the difficulties for the less fortunate, the lonely elderly, people in especially difficult circumstances, and poor children, from 2023 to now, women members of the Women's Association of Zone II, Cho Gao Town, Cho Gao District, Tien Giang Province have voluntarily contributed funds to implement and maintain the model of Bowl of Love Porridge, an activity that is not new but is wholehearted.

Every month, on the morning of the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month, women in the Bowl of Love Porridge model gather at the house of Ms. Bui Thi Le (No. 124, Block 2, Ward II, the group leader of the model) to cook porridge and give it directly to the less fortunate, the lonely elderly, people in especially difficult circumstances, and poor children.

According to the agreement, every afternoon before the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month, the sisters were assigned to buy ingredients and then gather at Ms. Bui Thi Le's house to peel and wash vegetables, and process the ingredients; so that Ms. Le could cook porridge the next morning. At around 6:00 a.m., all the sisters gathered to put the ingredients in bags, divide them into portions, and distribute them to the elderly, children, and sick and disadvantaged families.

Ms. Bui Thi Le said that this model of Bowl of Love Porridge was initiated by her and her younger sister, Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Tuyet, in 2023 from family funds. After that, realizing the humane meaning of this activity, many women in the neighborhood contributed to maintain the model.

Up to now, nearly 10 women have contributed funds as well as necessities such as rice, MSG, cooking oil, and sugar to cook bowls of charity porridge to support the less fortunate in life. At first, the model only distributed about 100 porridge portions, but now there have been over 300 porridge portions given away on the 1st and 15th of each month.

In front of Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Tuyet's house (Zone II, Cho Gao town), around 6am on the first and fifteenth day of every month is a familiar place for people in difficult circumstances to come and receive porridge.

Coming to receive porridge from the Bowl of Love Porridge model of the Women's Association of Ward II, Cho Gao town, Mr. Tran Thai (Long Binh Dien commune) said that this model is very meaningful, the delicious porridge has partly supported the cost, reducing the worries in the life of people in difficult circumstances in life not only in Cho Gao town, but also helping other difficult circumstances in neighboring communes.

The model of the bowl of love porridge of the Women's Association of Ward II, Cho Gao town is increasingly receiving positive response from cadres, members, women and people in the town, demonstrating the spirit of mutual love, mutual assistance in the village spirit, promoting the fine traditions of the Vietnamese people.
