Tien Giang: Ensuring domestic water for people during the drought and salinity season

Domestic water supply in eastern districts of Tien Giang province is being ensured.

According to Tien Giang Water Supply Company Limited, currently, the water supply situation in the My Tho - Chau Thanh area is stable and guaranteed. In the western area, water supply stations are operating normally, providing enough water for people.

In the Eastern region, Tien Giang Water Supply Company Limited focuses on operating at maximum capacity at the operating water supply stations. At the same time, combining and promoting the effectiveness of the Eastern Water Supply Pipeline Network Project and the Go Cong Booster Pumping Station, striving to basically meet the water needs of the people.

To ensure the domestic water source for the people in the Eastern region, Tien Giang Water Supply Company Limited has regularly monitored the salinity of raw water sources to operate and exploit raw water reasonably. At the same time, it has taken advantage of pumping water into reservoirs, operating and exploiting underground water wells reasonably and receiving maximum water from Dong Tam Water Plant to the Eastern localities.

The company has coordinated well with the People's Committees of the Eastern districts and cities in proposing to open public water taps in areas with difficult water sources to provide domestic water for people; preparing plans to transport and place free water tanks for people in some areas lacking water at the end of the source.

Up to now, the company has installed a total of 23 public taps to supply water to people in downstream areas as requested by the locality, mainly in Go Cong Dong district. The water output supplied through public taps is over 917 ^m3 .

In addition, Tien Giang Water Supply Company Limited also coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and Environment to put into operation 10 water supply pipelines in Go Cong Dong and Tan Phu Dong districts, which have just been invested. Currently, the company is informing, guiding the documents, and implementing the installation of water meters according to people's needs.

At the same time, the company also invested in 4 water supply pipelines in Go Cong Dong district and Go Cong city. Currently, 2 pipelines have been completed and put into use; the remaining 2 are also about to be completed. In addition, the company has also completed the construction of the HDPE D200 raw water transmission pipeline from Binh Thanh bridge to Binh Xuan 2 station.

According to Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of Tien Giang Water Supply Company Limited Ho Huu Nhan, in the coming time, the company will continue to proactively coordinate with the locality to open more public water taps in the eastern districts and towns when requested. To ensure the source of domestic water for the people in the coming time, the unit has requested Dong Tam Water Plant Joint Stock Company to continue to provide stable and continuous water supply to ensure the water supply in the dry season of 2025.

At the same time, Tien Giang Electricity Company is requested to prioritize the supply of electricity to the company's water plants, water supply stations, wells, and booster stations to ensure operations; Tien Giang Province Irrigation Works Exploitation Company Limited regularly monitors and maintains water levels on canals and ditches in the Eastern region to support the supply of production water to on-site stations.

According to comrade Ho Huu Nhan, Tien Giang Water Supply Company Limited has also requested localities to regularly propagate and mobilize people to use water economically and for the right purposes. Coordinate and support the company in handling cases of people using water for improper purposes in the context of severe drought and salinity, deploying to the authorities of communes, hamlets, and groups...

At the same time, mobilize people to maintain environmental hygiene in canals, streams, rivers and raw water intake points to produce clean water for people, contributing to raising awareness in ensuring the protection of assets and water resources.
