Farewell to former Head of the Central Organizing Committee Le Phuoc Tho to his homeland

On the morning of July 9, at the Can Tho City Party Committee Hall, the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly, the President, the Government, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the family solemnly held a memorial service for comrade Le Phuoc Tho, former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Party Central Committee, former Head of the Central Organization Commission.

Comrade Le Phuoc Tho was affectionately called Sau Hau by his friends. He was born on December 25, 1927, in Tan Loc commune, Ca Mau district, Minh Hai province; now Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau province.

His life of activities was closely linked to the ups and downs of history, the country and the Mekong Delta until he held important positions in the Party and the State. In any circumstances, he always demonstrated the steadfast spirit of a communist soldier, overcoming all hardships and challenges, successfully completing the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the People. He devoted much effort to the work of organizing cadres and building a clean and strong Party.

With over 90 years of age and over 70 years of Party membership, no matter what position he holds, comrade Le Phuoc Tho is always trusted by the Party and State, and is considered by comrades, colleagues, brothers and friends to be upright, honest, fair, diligent and highly responsible for his work.

Comrade was considered by generations of Central Organizing Committee and cadres of the Western provinces as an exemplary model of loyalty, dedication, and devotion to the cause of the Party, the country and the people. In daily life, comrade was always close, had a modest and simple lifestyle, had a tolerant, loving and sharing heart, and was loved and respected by Party members and colleagues...

After the memorial service, the funeral organizing committee performed the funeral procession and brought Mr. Le Phuoc Tho's coffin back to his hometown in Ca Mau province for burial.

With his great contributions and outstanding achievements contributing to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, comrade Le Phuoc Tho was awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal by the Party and the State, the 75-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and orders.

Comrade Le Phuoc Tho (commonly known as Sau Hau), born on December 25, 1927; hometown: Tan Loc commune, Ca Mau district, Minh Hai province (now Thoi Binh district, Ca Mau province); permanent residence at 2/116 Le Lai street, An Phu ward, Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city; participated in the August 1945 revolution; joined the Party on February 10, 1949.

Comrade Le Phuoc Tho was formerly: Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, term IV; Member of the Party Central Committee, term V, VI, VII; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, term VI, VII; Member of the Politburo, term VII; Head of the Central Organization Committee; Head of the Central Agriculture Committee; Secretary of the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee and Hau Giang Provincial Party Committee; National Assembly Delegate, term VIII, IX. With more than 70 years of revolutionary activities, Comrade Le Phuoc Tho has made many contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, and has been awarded the Ho Chi Minh Medal, the 75-year Party membership badge and many other noble medals and orders by the Party and State.

After a period of serious illness, due to old age and poor health, comrade Le Phuoc Tho passed away at 1:46 a.m. on July 6, 2023 (ie May 19, Quy Mao year) at his home, at the age of 96.
