Emotional national flag flying on the mountain top

On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2023), the youth union members of Tuong Son commune, Anh Son district, Nghe An province organized to renovate the flagpole, replace the national flag and hold a flag raising ceremony on the top of Len Vu mountain, the highest location in the locality.

Len Vu is nearly 400m high, consisting of two peaks, located in village 8 and village 9, Tuong Son commune. The origin of raising the flag on this mountain peak started from the idea of a group of young people in village 9, Tuong Son commune. In 2012, this group of young people wanted to do something meaningful to show patriotism and national pride of the young generation on National Day, an important holiday of the country, then chose to raise the flag on the top of Len Vu mountain of the commune.

For more than 10 years now, on important days, the youth union members of Tuong Son commune have organized to decorate the flagpole and replace the national flag .

Mr. Le Quoc Tri, Secretary of the Youth Union of Tuong Son commune, said that he realized that this was a practical and meaningful work that had become a tradition. For many years now, on the occasion of National Day, September 2, the Youth Union members of Tuong Son commune, Anh Son district have organized to renovate the flagpole and replace the national flag.

This year, the Tuong Son Commune Youth Union coordinated with the officers and soldiers of the Commune Police to organize the renovation and replacement of the national flag on the top of Len Vu. To climb to the top of the mountain, one must go through a difficult, dangerous road with complex terrain, but the youth union members were still very excited to participate. Immediately after the national flag was raised, the youth union members performed a sacred and emotional flag-raising ceremony.

The flag symbolizes the spirit of solidarity, patriotism and national pride of every Vietnamese citizen.

Mr. Thai Doan Quynh, Secretary of Anh Son District Youth Union, said that this activity has been maintained by youth union members of Tuong Son commune every year on the occasions of April 30, National Day September 2 and Lunar New Year.

Seeing the national flag flying on the mountain top makes everyone feel proud. This is the symbol of solidarity, patriotism, and national pride of every Vietnamese person.

“The red flag with yellow star is not only solemnly hung on the mountain tops by the young generation of Anh Son district, but also through the works of “National Flag Road” and “Youth Flag Road”, thereby creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere during the days when the country joyfully welcomes National Day on September 2nd”, said Secretary of Anh Son District Youth Union.

Colorful flags in the countryside

In addition to Tuong Son commune, the youth union members of Hoa Son commune, Anh Son district, also held a flag-raising activity at the top of O Do cliff in hamlet 6, Hoa Son commune. O Do cliff is about 330m high. It takes nearly 1 hour to walk to the top of the mountain because of the steep, dangerous cliffs.

Mr. Phan Ngoc Tai, Secretary of the Hoa Son Commune Youth Union, said that the origin of raising the flag on O Do peak started from the idea of the youth union members in the village in 2016.

The harsh weather in Nghe An due to the Lao wind causes the flag to quickly fade and tear. Therefore, from 2017 until now, the Hoa Son commune delegation has replaced the national flag and organized the flag raising ceremony here on major national holidays.

“The act of raising the national flag at O Do is very important, demonstrating the nation’s sovereignty and expressing gratitude to the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their blood for the nation’s independence and freedom. It not only creates beauty and solemnity for the landscape, but also educates the younger generation about revolutionary traditions,” said the Secretary of the Hoa Son Commune Youth Union.

Secretary of the Anh Son District Youth Union added that these days, wherever you go, you can easily see colorful flags and flowers on every street and house. The sacred symbol of the Fatherland fluttering in the wind further evokes the spirit of solidarity and patriotism in every citizen in the land of "fiery sun and pouring rain" Nghe An.

The image of the red flag with yellow star fluttering on mountain tops, in houses, or on roads and alleys on National Day is the most beautiful proof of the most sacred symbol of solidarity.

The bright red national flags not only contribute to making the picture of this countryside more brilliant, but also honor the national pride and patriotism of each citizen, especially the young generation.

For today's young generation, the flag is a symbol of the nation's soul, the people's heart, and the heroic sacrifices of many generations of Vietnamese people in the struggle for independence and freedom for the nation. Because of this great significance, hanging the national flag has become a unique cultural feature of the Vietnamese people.

With the pioneering spirit of the youth, in recent times, Anh Son District Youth Union has mobilized 21 grassroots unions in the district to build the "National Flag Road" and "Youth Flag Road". "In the coming time, the Standing Committee of the District Youth Union will continue to direct grassroots unions to expand the flag-raising activities, gradually bringing a new look and vitality to the countryside", said Mr. Thai Doan Quynh.
