On the morning of September 22, in Ho Chi Minh City, under the direction of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper in collaboration with the Center for Rural Development - Saemaul Undong (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City National University) organized the Forum "Developing agricultural and rural tourism associated with the consumption of agricultural specialties and OCOP products". The program will take place live at Ho Chi Minh City and online nationwide. Mr. Tran Thanh Nam - Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ms. Ngo Thi Phuong Lan - Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Ho Chi Minh City National University) and Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Thach - Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Agriculture Newspaper, Head of the Executive Team of the Agricultural Product Connection Forum 970 chaired the forum. Rural tourism development is identified as one of the key solutions and tasks of the National Target Program on New Rural Development for the 2021-2025 period. Based on the change in thinking from agricultural production to rural economic development, the direction to help localities effectively and sustainably implement new rural criteria has been set out in Decision No. 922/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister (on Approval of the Rural Tourism Development Program in New Rural Development for the 2021-2025 period).

In the initial stage, the National Program “One Commune One Product OCOP” has achieved basic achievements in terms of product quantity, scale and consensus participation in localities. However, at present, connection is needed to promote product consumption.
Ha Tinh is still one of the leading localities in the country in the movement to build new rural areas. The whole province has successfully built 237 products that meet OCOP standards, including a number of products that have created brands for distribution nationwide and exported abroad. However, many products still have difficulty finding a way to consume. |
The forum "Developing agricultural and rural tourism associated with the consumption of agricultural specialties and OCOP products" aims to assess the current status of rural tourism development in localities in recent times and propose solutions to promote trade in the coming time.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam expressed his delight that this activity received the attention of ministries, departments, sectors, localities and tourism workers across the country. The forum received many shares, contributions, stories and valuable lessons in developing agricultural and rural tourism associated with the consumption of OCOP products from experts, localities, businesses, cooperatives and the tourism community.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development emphasized that promoting the development of agricultural and rural tourism associated with promoting the potential and advantages of agriculture, craft villages, culture and ecological environment of localities to improve the quality of material and spiritual life of rural people, contributing to the restructuring of the rural economy towards multi-value integration, inclusiveness and sustainable development is the goal of Decision No. 922 issued by the Prime Minister on developing rural tourism associated with building new rural areas in the period of 2021-2025.
In that spirit, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has implemented programs to promote and support the development of agricultural and rural tourism products based on the advantages of agricultural production activities, cultural and ecological characteristics of localities; building, developing and positioning rural tourism destination brands.

In addition, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also piloted a number of rural tourism development models according to the following types: community tourism, agricultural tourism, eco-tourism, tourism associated with nature conservation, craft village tourism, smart tourism villages, zero-emission tourism...
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development acknowledges and accepts comments and contributions to evaluate, review, improve and supplement more fully mechanisms, policies and resources to encourage and facilitate agricultural and rural tourism to spread strongly and develop sustainably.
