On the morning of August 28, speaking to reporters at the Pheu Thai Party headquarters, Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said: "Today, the Cabinet Secretariat will receive cabinet nominations to check their qualifications. Please be patient."
Speaking about the position of Defense Minister, Mr. Srettha reiterated that when the name is revealed, no one will be disappointed. Previously, there were some sources saying that this politician could also hold the position of Finance Minister.
The Thai prime minister also said he was personally unsure when he would be able to submit his cabinet line-up for royal approval. According to the politician, the background check process for cabinet members could take several days.
In that context, the new Prime Minister hopes the new government will be able to take office in mid-September.
Asked whether the process would be completed in time for him to attend the United Nations General Assembly meeting in the US at the end of September, the politician said it would depend on the schedule.
Traditionally, the new Prime Minister often visits countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) first.
