Within the framework of his visit to Laos and co-chairing the 47th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, on the afternoon of January 10, at the Lao National Assembly Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane.
Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh again; emphasized his visit to Laos and co-chairing the 47th meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee. Vietnam-Laos Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's message contributed to strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam; congratulated the great and comprehensive achievements that the Government and people of Vietnam have achieved in recent times as well as the victory of the Vietnamese football team at the AFF Cup 2024.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh thanked the Lao National Assembly Chairman for his warm and respectful welcome; congratulated the great and significant achievements that the Lao Party, State and people have achieved in nearly four decades of renovation; emphasized that the two countries regularly exchange high-level exchanges, but each meeting is a special occasion for the purpose of deepening bilateral relations; conveyed the greetings and best wishes of health from General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and other leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam on the occasion of the New Year 2025.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh informed Mr. Saysomphone Phomvihane of the outstanding results when co-chairing with Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone the 47th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, especially reviewing bilateral cooperation in all important areas and setting out directions for bilateral cooperation in 2025; informing about the situation and development achievements of Vietnam in 2024 and sharing the major orientations that Vietnam will implement and promote in 2025.
Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane thanked Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for his comprehensive information and comprehensive assessment of the situation in Vietnam and cooperation between the two countries; assessed that the world and regional situation is complicated, but Vietnam still maintains very high growth, people's lives continue to improve, political security is stable, and Vietnam's role and position in the international arena are increasingly enhanced; highly appreciated the lessons learned from the Communist Party of Vietnam, and praised Vietnam's foreign policy and flexible response to complex changes in the situation.
Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane highly appreciated the results of the 47th Session of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee to implement the agreements of high-ranking leaders and commitments of the two governments; informed about the plans, focuses and priorities of the Lao National Assembly in 2025; affirmed that the Lao National Assembly always monitors cooperation activities with Vietnam to bring practical benefits to the people of the two countries; emphasized that the close and effective cooperation between the two National Assemblies with many exchange activities and experience sharing in legislative and supervisory work between the professional agencies of the two National Assemblies will contribute to tightening and deepening the relationship between the two legislative bodies in particular and between the two countries in general.
The two sides agreed to coordinate effectively in implementing joint supervision activities, to contribute to the effective implementation of high-level agreements and plans of the two countries in general and cooperation agreements between the two National Assemblies in particular; closely coordinate in organizing important events of the two countries; enhance exchanges and experience sharing in areas of mutual interest, especially in building and perfecting institutions, legal systems and supreme supervision of the activities of state agencies, and jointly promote economic cooperation commensurate with the special relationship between the two countries with key points; agreed to strengthen solidarity, closely coordinate and support each other at regional and international parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Organization (AIPA), the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF), the Francophone Parliamentary Alliance (APF), etc.
On this occasion, Lao National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane once again expressed his deep gratitude for the valuable support of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for Laos in the current struggle for national independence and national construction, especially when Laos assumes the Chairmanship of ASEAN and AIPA; and sent his best wishes to General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and other senior leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.
