Prime Minister names 5 pioneers for businesses and entrepreneurs

Third consecutive year sets record for number of newly established businesses

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed and highly appreciated businesses, entrepreneurs and delegates for contributing many responsible, dedicated, intelligent, practical and constructive proposals and opinions.

The Prime Minister assigned the Government Office to coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to synthesize and absorb the opinions and recommendations of businesses at the conference in order to promptly handle and resolve them to bring common benefits to the country and to the team of businesses and entrepreneurs.

The Prime Minister pointed out that the Vietnamese business community and entrepreneurs are increasingly affirming their position, role and importance in the cause of innovation and national development, especially in the process of economic transformation.

Highlighting some bright spots showing the strong development, growth and contributions of Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs, the Prime Minister pointed out that after 20 years since the establishment of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day, the Vietnamese business community has developed strongly; the number of newly established businesses has continuously increased.

The number of newly established enterprises within 20 years (2004-2023) has reached more than 1.88 million, the number of newly established enterprises in 2023 increased about 4.3 times compared to 2004.

The number of newly established enterprises in the first 8 months of 2024 was over 110,000, an increase of 4.4% over the same period in 2023. It is estimated that the number of newly established enterprises in 2024 will exceed the 159,000 figure of 2023, the third consecutive year of setting a record.

Accumulated from 2000-2024, the number of newly established enterprises is forecast to exceed 2.1 million.

The Prime Minister said that recently, storm No. 3 (Yagi) caused huge losses in human lives and property in 26 provinces and cities from the North onwards. "We are very moved when businesses and entrepreneurs voluntarily contributed, shared, and helped flood victims very sincerely, enthusiastically, and effectively, showing that the national spirit, compatriotism, solidarity, and unity of our nation always play an effective role in times of difficulty and challenge," said the Prime Minister.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs' Day on October 13, on behalf of the Government, the Prime Minister warmly commended the efforts and important contributions of the business community and entrepreneurs in the process of building and developing the country in recent times.

5 pioneers

In the coming time, in the context of difficulties, challenges and opportunities, advantages intertwined but with more difficulties and challenges, the Prime Minister requested businesses and entrepreneurs to implement 5 pioneering actions.

First of all, we must be the pioneer in promoting three strategic breakthroughs (institutions, infrastructure and human resources), especially the breakthrough in the socialist-oriented market economic institution.

Enterprises and entrepreneurs are pioneers in developing science and technology, applying achievements of the 4th industrial revolution, innovating, renewing traditional growth drivers (investment, export, consumption) and promoting new growth drivers (digital economy, green economy, circular economy, sharing economy, knowledge economy, night economy, etc.).

In the current context, pioneering contributes to stabilizing the macro economy, controlling inflation, prioritizing growth promotion, ensuring major balances of the economy (revenue meets expenditure, export meets import, making enough to eat, ensuring enough energy, labor supply and demand meet development requirements).

Pioneering in building modern corporate governance to contribute to improving the country's governance capacity in a smart direction, with a clean, honest government serving the people.

Finally, we are the pioneers in consolidating and strengthening the strength of national solidarity, doing well in social security work, not sacrificing progress, fairness, and social security to pursue mere economic growth, leaving no one behind, contributing to rapid, sustainable, inclusive, and comprehensive development.

"With the spirit of harmonious benefits, shared risks, and harmonious interests between the State, businesses, and people, let us listen, understand, share visions and actions, work together, win together, and develop together, enjoy joy, happiness, and pride together," the Prime Minister said.
