(Chinhphu.vn) - On the afternoon of November 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with officials and staff of the Consulate General and the Vietnamese community in Yunnan province, China, during his working visit to this country from November 5-8.
Reporting on the situation of the Vietnamese community in Yunnan Province (China), Vietnamese Consul General in Kunming Hoang Minh Son emphasized that this working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is of important significance, including creating momentum to promote stronger, more effective and substantive cooperation between localities of Vietnam and China. According to him, Yunnan Province is a key locality in Southwest China, with a population of more than 48 million people. Yunnan also has a deep and close relationship with Vietnam. There are currently about 40,000 Vietnamese people in Yunnan, including about 5,000 students. In general, the people have a stable life and always look towards the Fatherland. During the recent storm, the people donated 5,000 USD to support compatriots affected by natural disasters. Mr. Pham Gia Duc, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Kunming, said that winter has just arrived here, but people feel very warm when the Prime Minister and the delegation come to Kunming, bringing the affection of the Party, the State and the people in their homeland. Overseas Vietnamese in Yunnan are now the 4th generation. Of which, the first and second generations are mostly those who came to Yunnan along the railway connecting Kunming (China) through Lao Cai to Hai Phong port, which was built more than a century ago, working in the railway and other jobs. As for himself, he is the 3rd generation, the majority of overseas Vietnamese in Yunnan. According to Mr. Pham Gia Duc, overseas Vietnamese in Yunnan have a tradition of patriotism, always looking towards the Fatherland. When Yunnan province restored the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Kunming, many overseas Vietnamese responded to the call of the Consulate General in Kunming, actively contributed, and coordinated with local authorities to do a good job of restoration, affirming their patriotism and love for the Fatherland and beloved Uncle Ho. Beautiful landscapes, traditional culture and warm hearts are the characteristics of Kunming that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh felt when he arrived, and he shared them with the Vietnamese community here. The Prime Minister pointed out that Kunming and Yunnan are places very close to Vietnam. This is where President Ho Chi Minh stopped and worked during his journey to find a way to save the country and lead the revolution. Currently, the relationship between Yunnan province and the four border provinces of Vietnam, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau and Ha Giang, is very good. According to the Prime Minister, this tradition of good relations has long been rooted, especially in people-to-people exchange activities since the railway connecting Yunnan (China) with Vietnam was built in the past. As shared by the people, many Vietnamese people have followed this route to Yunnan to work and live, many families have had four generations here. Emphasizing the importance of railways in connecting the two economies, connecting people, and promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, the Prime Minister said that Kunming is a very meaningful place for the Vietnamese revolution and that this significance will be further promoted in the current period when the two countries are continuing to consolidate and promote the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the "Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance" to develop more deeply, comprehensively and sustainably to bring common benefits to the two peoples and two countries. The Prime Minister stated that China is a neighboring country with a common border, "mountains connected to mountains, rivers connected to rivers", a traditional socialist friend country and has close relations with Vietnam. Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and developing friendly and cooperative relations with China, considering this a consistent policy, an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority in its foreign policy. Emotionally sharing his feelings when visiting the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Kunming, the Prime Minister also said that we always remember the great help of the Party, State and people of China in the cause of national liberation and development. Sending warm feelings from his homeland to his compatriots, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and people of China for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work smoothly, stably and to develop their best abilities. The Prime Minister asked the representative agencies to continue to care for the community, consider them as their own relatives, and take care of their work as if it were their own family, especially when they encounter difficulties and misfortunes. Taking the time to share about the country's situation, the great and historic achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi, and the outstanding results in socio-economic development in recent times, the Prime Minister hoped that the Vietnamese community in China would continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, live, study and work in accordance with the law, actively integrate and develop well. The Prime Minister hoped that each person would always be an ambassador of the Vietnam-China friendship "both comrades and brothers" that has been built and nurtured over many generations and will continue to be passed on to future generations. This relationship has become a precious common heritage of the two peoples and two countries, which needs to be inherited, preserved, constantly promoted, promoted and developed by present and future generations.
