On August 29, the delegation attended the Vietnam National Day Celebration organized by the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston.

On August 30, the delegation attended the Flag Raising Ceremony to celebrate Vietnam's National Day at San Francisco City Hall. Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed her emotion at witnessing the moment the Vietnamese flag flew over City Hall, saying that this was a clear demonstration of the friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the US in general, and San Francisco in particular.

The Deputy Minister thanked the San Francisco City government for its important contributions to the process of promoting Vietnam-US bilateral relations, especially its determination to establish a sister city relationship with Ho Chi Minh City before the two countries normalized diplomatic relations.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang also received the Declaration signed by the Mayor of San Francisco announcing September 2, 2024 as Vietnam-US Friendship Heritage Day in the city and county of San Francisco in 2024.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang received the Proclamation signed by the Mayor of San Francisco announcing September 2, 2024 as Vietnam-US Friendship Heritage Day in the city and county of San Francisco in 2024.

At the ceremonies, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the development of the Vietnamese community in the US in general and in the states of Texas and California in particular; was pleased with the integration, success and outstanding contributions of the community to the host society; and thanked the sentiments and contributions of the people to the homeland and the country.

On August 31, the delegation met with a group of young overseas Vietnamese experts working at large technology and financial corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area such as Apple, Microsoft, Meta, LinkedIn, Lucid, Boston Consultin Group, Deloitte, Biamarin...

At the meeting, young experts expressed their joy that the Party and State always pay attention to the community of Vietnamese experts and intellectuals abroad; wished to have more meetings to share in-depth opinions; said they were willing to spend time sharing with young people in the country, thereby increasing opportunities for young people in Vietnam to be exposed to the advanced science and technology environment.

You also shared your concerns about the fact that Vietnam is not really attractive to some large technology corporations due to language barriers; the ability of Vietnamese human resources to work in an international environment; and certain concerns about cyber security. Young overseas Vietnamese hope that the State will have preferential policies and support connections so that they can contribute remotely or return to Vietnam to work.

On behalf of the delegation, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang highly appreciated the fact that young experts and intellectuals have initially achieved success in their home countries and always turn their attention to the country; shared the concerns of overseas Vietnamese; acknowledged the proposals and said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will coordinate with ministries and branches to actively promote the removal of obstacles, creating an increasingly favorable environment for young overseas experts to contribute to the country.

Meeting with the Vietnamese business community in San Jose and Oakland, California, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang informed about some highlights of Vietnam's socio-economic development and Vietnam-US relations; major programs for overseas Vietnamese; expressed her joy at the strong development of the Vietnamese community in the US, with many successful people in the business field. The Deputy Minister said that with dynamic development and open policies, Vietnam is an ideal destination for investors, including the Vietnamese business community in the US; hoping that there will be more and more large investment projects of overseas Vietnamese in Vietnam, thereby contributing to changing the face of the homeland.

The Deputy Minister also hopes that in addition to professional and business work, Vietnamese intellectuals and businessmen in the US will pay more attention to and support the common activities of the Vietnamese community in the US, especially supporting the community in organizing activities to maintain and promote traditional cultural identity, teach Vietnamese to the younger generation, and help those in difficult circumstances in the community as well as in Vietnam.

Within the framework of the program, the delegation visited a number of religious establishments and exchanged with Vietnamese religious dignitaries in Texas and California.

In Houston and San Francisco, the delegation also met and visited a number of overseas Vietnamese who have been with the country for many years and have made many contributions to the development of Vietnam - US relations, contributing to promoting positive changes so that the Vietnamese community in the US can increasingly understand and connect with the country.

Previously, from August 25 to 27, the working delegation led by Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang had meetings and contacts with the Vietnamese community in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada.
