Welcoming Mr. John Neuffer and SIA to visit and work with the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung highly appreciated many activities and initiatives of SIA to support Vietnam in developing the semiconductor industry, as well as connecting many SIA member enterprises to research and seek business and cooperation opportunities in Vietnam.
Emphasizing that within the framework of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, innovation and the semiconductor industry are identified as important new pillars in the bilateral relationship, Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung suggested that SIA continue to call on member enterprises to cooperate and invest more deeply and effectively with Vietnam in the fields of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
In addition, in coordination with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the National Innovation Center (NIC), the program on human resource development for the semiconductor industry until 2030, with a vision to 2050, will be implemented. The Vietnamese government is very interested in training high-quality human resources for the semiconductor chip industry, so this is a suitable opportunity for SIA and its member enterprises to cooperate and support Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the global supply chain.
Deputy Minister Do Thanh Trung emphasized that the Ministry of Planning and Investment is committed and always ready to cooperate with SIA to bring about more effective cooperation in the semiconductor field, continuing to implement the proposed plans.
SIA Chairman John Neuffer expressed his pleasure to witness the strong determination and commitment of Vietnam's senior leaders to develop the semiconductor industry, as well as the many advantages of abundant, enthusiastic labor resources and important infrastructure.
Mr. John Neffeur had two working visits to Vietnam in January 2023 and October 2023, attending the Vietnam International Innovation Exhibition and the Inauguration Ceremony of the NIC facility at Hoa Lac High-Tech Park; affirming that SIA is very interested in the potential and market of Vietnam.
He also highly appreciated the development strategy and training program for at least 50,000 semiconductor engineers; he said that Vietnam has also made many important strides in this field in recent times, and has quickly had plans to develop the semiconductor industry as well as the supply chain.
The SIA Chairman added that SIA as well as US businesses are very interested in promoting the Vietnam - US comprehensive strategic partnership, and all expressed their desire to continue to accompany and support Vietnam in developing key industries in the relationship such as semiconductors and innovation, thereby promoting, consolidating and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
At the meeting, the businesses in the delegation all affirmed that they highly value the Vietnamese market, informed about their operations and plans to expand cooperation and investment in the coming time./.
