(CLO) Türkiye continued to launch airstrikes against suspected Kurdish militant targets in Syria and Iraq on Thursday, in response to a terrorist attack on the headquarters of defense company TUSAS that killed at least five people.
Accordingly, the Turkish National Intelligence Service attacked many "strategic positions" used by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) or Syrian Kurdish militias affiliated with the PKK.
The targets included military, intelligence, energy, infrastructure and ammunition depots. A security official said Thursday’s attacks were carried out using armed drones.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Turkish air force also carried out airstrikes on similar targets in northern Syria and northern Iraq, after Turkish officials blamed the deadly attack at the TUSAS headquarters on the PKK.
Defense Minister Yasar Guler said Wednesday’s airstrikes destroyed 47 PKK targets, including 29 in Iraq and 18 in Syria. “People can rest assured that we will continue our fight against the forces that threaten the security and peace of the country and its people until we eliminate all terrorists,” Guler said.
The attack on TUSAS was carried out by a male and female militant. They arrived in the area in a taxi that they had previously hijacked after killing the driver. Upon arrival, the two used assault rifles and detonated explosives, killing four people at TUSAS, including a security guard and a mechanical engineer.
Security forces rushed to the scene shortly after the attack began at around 3:30 p.m. local time. Two attackers were killed, and more than 20 others were injured.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya identified the two attackers as Mine Sevjin Alcicek and Ali Orek, both members of the PKK. The PKK has not yet issued a statement on the attack or the Turkish airstrikes.
In Syria, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces said Turkish airstrikes in northern Syria killed 12 civilians and wounded 25. The attacks targeted bakeries, power stations, oil facilities and local police checkpoints.
Amir Samu, manager of the al Swediya oil refinery in Derik, northern Syria, said overnight attacks killed seven workers and security guards.
TUSAS is a company that designs, manufactures and assembles civil and military aircraft, drones and defense and space systems. Its products have helped Türkiye gain an advantage in the fight against Kurdish militants.
The PKK has been fighting for autonomy in southeastern Türkiye since the 1980s, killing tens of thousands of people. It is considered a terrorist organization by Türkiye and its Western allies.
