(CLO) Google is rolling out a new update to the "Find My Device" device search application, allowing you to locate relatives who have shared their location with you.
The feature was announced in Android's March feature update last week and is now available to many users.
Previously, users could see the location of friends and family through Google Maps. Now, the Find My Device app on Android can do both: help find a lost device and show the location of people who have shared their location with you. The map in the app also shows the location of people sharing from Google Maps on iOS.
In the Android app, you can tap the People tab to see the locations of contacts who are sharing your location with you. You can also switch to a different tab to see a list of people you're sharing your location with, and customize the sharing time to your liking.
Google's new interface now has a lot in common with Apple's Find My app, including a split screen with a map on top and a list of devices or people on the bottom, depending on whether you're tracking an object or a person.
This update makes the Android ecosystem more synchronized, especially useful for users who frequently use location sharing to stay in touch with family and friends.
