The Government agreed not to include pork in the list of goods and services subject to price stabilization in the draft Law on Prices (amended).
This content was announced by the Government in a report sent to the National Assembly Standing Committee on June 17, after receiving comments from delegates and agencies of the National Assembly.
Discussing at the meeting hall on May 23, many National Assembly delegates said that pork and milk for the elderly in the list of State-regulated goods are not appropriate. Instead, the list of price-stabilized goods should be an open list, not fixed in law and the Ministry of Finance should decide which goods will be stabilized.
Thus, after removing pork and milk for the elderly, the list of goods and services with price stabilization in the draft Law on Prices (amended) includes: Finished gasoline and oil; liquefied petroleum gas; milk for children under 6 years old; unhusked rice; nitrogen fertilizer; DAP fertilizer; NPK fertilizer; animal feed, aquatic feed; vaccines for livestock and poultry; pesticides; disease prevention and treatment drugs for humans on the list of essential drugs used at medical examination and treatment facilities.
Also in the report sent to the National Assembly Standing Committee, the Government reserved its view on maintaining the regulation on ceiling prices for air tickets (domestic air passenger transport services).
However, the viewpoint of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Finance and Budget Committee - the examining agency, is that keeping the regulation on ceiling prices and removing the floor prices for airline tickets is necessary.
The ceiling price of domestic airfares has remained unchanged for 8 years, the Ministry of Transport plans to increase the ceiling, with an average increase of 3.75% compared to the current level. For flights over 1,280 km, the ceiling price can reach up to 4 million VND per way.
Similarly, the pricing of textbooks is also in the form of a price ceiling as in the draft submitted to the National Assembly for comments.
The Government assigned the Ministry of Finance - the drafting agency - to coordinate with the National Assembly agencies to complete the dossier to submit to the National Assembly. The National Assembly is expected to vote on this bill on June 19.
