During the period from January to May 2024, realizing that in the general context there was a risk of shortage of some medicines and medical supplies, due to the issuance and implementation of new legal documents related to procurement and bidding, the hospital had flexible and proactive plans to ensure that medical examination and treatment were not interrupted.

Specifically, the hospital has reserved drugs and medical supplies when preparing to complete the bidding packages to ensure adequate supply for the hospital's needs during the time of organizing the selection of contractors for the bidding packages in accordance with the provisions of law; using other drugs with the same treatment effects, treatment regimens of the Ministry of Health, treatment guidelines around the world, multidisciplinary consultations to ensure drugs and medical supplies to serve patients.

The hospital has selected appropriate forms of procurement in accordance with legal regulations, including procurement in urgent cases when necessary, ensuring medical examination and treatment.

Up to now, the hospital has been organizing the selection of bidding packages, continuing to ensure enough medicine and medical supplies for medical examination and treatment.

Regarding the oral drug Hydrocortisone 10 mg (abbreviated as Hydrocortisone) used in the treatment of primary and secondary adrenal insufficiency, which is a drug that is reported to be in short supply, the Central Endocrinology Hospital said that it has organized the selection of contractors according to current regulations. However, at some points, the supply was interrupted due to the scarcity of raw materials for drug production (according to the contractor's feedback).

"The hospital has selected a contractor to supply Hydrocortisone and it is available at the hospital, meeting treatment needs," informed Director of the Central Endocrinology Hospital Phan Hoang Hiep.

Recently, at some times when the supply of Hydrocortisone was interrupted, the hospital had an alternative drug, methylprednisolone 4 mg, 16 mg orally, with the same treatment indication.
