At the Department of Sports and Physical Training (TDTT), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently held an online Vietnam-China Sports Dialogue, co-organized by the Vietnam Olympic Committee (UBOVN) and the Vietnamese Service, China Central Radio and Television. The dialogue focused on the main topics: The development of sports economy in Vietnam and China, protecting the rights of athletes and career guidance for athletes after retirement. In addition, the two sides also shared some information about the preparation for the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China and the development of e-sports in the two countries.
- Speaking at the opening of the seminar, Director of the Department of Sports and Physical Training, Vice President of the Vietnam Sports Commission Dang Ha Viet emphasized: Vietnam and China are two countries with a long-standing tradition of friendly relations, friendly neighbors, and cooperation in many fields, including sports. The two sides regularly support each other in hosting international sporting events of continental scale, exchanging delegations of leaders, managers, and athlete delegations to participate in international sports competitions held in each country. In particular, as a world sports power, China has created conditions and assisted Vietnam in training athletes and supported sending good experts to train in Vietnam, contributing to improving the achievements of Vietnamese sports in recent years.

At the seminar, the Chinese side shared a number of measures to reform physical education and sports, many documents and policies to promote the sports industry have been issued and implemented. Physical education and sports have not only become a catalyst for economic growth but also a focus for improving the "happiness index" and quality of life of the Chinese people. Over the past 10 years, the integration and development of the sports industry and other industries in China have become factors supporting economic development, including the correlation and complementarity between the sports industry and other industries such as: Sports and tourism, sports and culture, sports and education, sports and elderly care... with their own characteristics have helped improve people's health, meet the needs of a better life, become a field that attracts resources, attracts investment, stimulates consumption and promotes socio-economic development.
Regarding the protection of athletes' rights, arranging jobs after retirement not only helps improve the benefits for athletes but also enhances the development of the professional/expert team of the country's sports. By overcoming psychological and personal problems, athletes can feel secure in devoting themselves to the sports career, thereby trying their best to compete for the flag and colors.
In September 2023, eSports will become an official competition at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou. This will be an opportunity to promote the development of the ESport market, especially in Southeast Asia; and at the same time, it is a promising area of cooperation between China and Vietnam. China's ESport projects are being developed strongly and leading in the world.
Assessing the effectiveness of the seminar, Mr. Dang Ha Viet affirmed: “This is a testament to the effective cooperation between the two countries. This event is a favorable opportunity for the two countries to continue to enhance exchanges, learning, and discussions on new areas in sports management and development, future Olympic movements... contributing to strengthening solidarity, friendship, mutual understanding and enhancing the sports spirit of the two countries according to the famous slogan of the International Olympic Committee, which is “faster, higher, stronger, together”.
