Groundbreaking event
With the strong development of intensive shrimp farming model in Soc Trang, about 1,000 farms use 2,000 tons of PE liner annually.
These tarpaulins typically decompose after 5-10 years, creating an environmental challenge that needs to be addressed.
To address this issue, Evergreen Social Ventures LLC, with funding from Dow Vietnam, through the American Charitable Assistance Fund (CAFA), has implemented a project to collect and recycle used pond liners to reduce plastic waste from aquaculture.

The event brought together a total of 61 key project stakeholders, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to address a pressing environmental challenge through innovative solutions and cross-sector collaboration.
Reduce environmental pollution
The project’s impact is to reduce environmental pollution, improve local livelihoods, reduce emissions and generate economic benefits. Through this project, approximately 300-400 tons of plastic tarpaulins will be converted into valuable products each year instead of being discarded indiscriminately, causing environmental pollution.
At the event, the Company's representative, co-founder and Deputy Director, Mr. Jan Zellmann, gave a presentation sharing details about the project's upcoming activities in Soc Trang province.
Dr. Kasia Weina - Director of the Company also said that this project marks an important step towards sustainable aquaculture in Soc Trang.
