2,439 new cases, 1 death

On the afternoon of May 12, the Ministry of Health announced that there were 2,439 new cases on the day, a decrease of 384 cases compared to May 11.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, Vietnam has had 11,587,829 infections, ranking 13th out of 231 countries and territories, while with the rate of infections per 1 million people, Vietnam ranks 120th out of 231 countries and territories (on average, there are 117,104 infections per 1 million people).

Data reported daily by the Department of Health of provinces and cities on the Covid-19 Management System of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, Ministry of Health shows that the number of patients declared cured on the day: 964 cases; the total number of cured cases is 10,631,224 cases.

The number of patients on oxygen is 85 cases, including: Oxygen breathing via mask: 75 cases; high flow oxygen breathing HFNC: 5 cases; non-invasive ventilation: 0 cases; invasive ventilation: 5 cases; no case requires ECMO.

On the day, 1 death was recorded in: Tay Ninh.

The total number of deaths from Covid-19 in Vietnam to date is 43,201, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

Total deaths ranked 26th out of 231 territories, deaths per 1 million people ranked 141st out of 231 countries and territories in the world. Compared to Asia, total deaths ranked 7th out of 50 (ranked 3rd in ASEAN), deaths per 1 million people ranked 29th out of 50 countries and territories in Asia (ranked 5th in ASEAN).

On May 11, 6,452 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were injected. Thus, the total number of doses injected was 266,312,906 doses, of which: The number of doses injected for people aged 18 and over was 223,670,682 doses: 70,908,655 doses for the first dose; 68,452,878 doses for the second dose; 14,343,927 doses for the supplementary dose; 52,116,777 doses for the first booster dose; 17,848,445 doses for the second booster dose.

The number of doses for children aged 12-17 is 23,965,543 doses: 1st dose is 9,130,889 doses; 2nd dose is 9,021,366 doses; 1st booster dose is 5,813,288 doses.

The number of doses for children aged 5-11 is 18,676,681 doses: 10,219,715 doses for the first dose; 8,456,966 doses for the second dose.
