Dak Mon is a remote commune of Dak Glei District, the economic life of the people here is still difficult. Previously, students enjoyed support policies for extremely difficult communes and villages according to Decree 116 of the Government. However, from the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year, they no longer enjoy this policy. There are no more boarding meals, the attendance rate of students has decreased significantly.

Faced with this situation, teacher Tran Ngoc Manh used his own money to buy instant noodles for his students to have lunch so that they would have the energy to stay at school in the afternoon. "At the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year, many families had financial difficulties and parents could not afford to provide lunch for their children at school. After finishing school in the morning, students had to walk home for lunch, and some students lived 7-8 km away from school and did not have time to go to school in the afternoon. In order to completely solve the problem of students being absent from school in the afternoon, I used my own money to buy instant noodles for about 50 students every day," said teacher Manh.

When the principal provided lunch, the students attended school more diligently. However, the funding to maintain lunch for the students was a difficult problem. In order to increase the number of students receiving lunch support and improve the quality of the students' meals, Mr. Manh and other teachers called on philanthropists, businesses, and parents to provide additional support for the students.

After a period of calling for donations, the program quickly received support and contributions from many individuals and organizations. Thanks to that, students' lunches were supplemented with eggs, meat, sausages, etc.

Currently, the budget contributed and mobilized by Mr. Manh to support lunch for students is about 7 million VND per month. This amount of money can meet the lunch needs of 100 - 140 students at the school.

Y Le (grade 9B student, Dak Mon Secondary School) said that her house is in Dak Xam village, 7 km from the school. "Since the school organized the cooking, we are very happy because we have been supported with lunch at school. We do not have to walk home to have lunch and then return to school to study in the afternoon like before. We are very grateful to the teachers," said Y Le.

Since the beginning of the 2023-2024 school year, Mr. Tran Ngoc Manh has raised over 200 million VND to support 542 students in the school with books, school supplies, and school bags; and support families of students in need with clothes, food, and other necessities during the Lunar New Year.

According to Ms. Y Hai, Deputy Head of the Department of Education and Training of Dak Glei District, for many years, Mr. Manh has been very dedicated to his profession, always caring for and looking after students in disadvantaged areas. Mr. Manh's efforts in organizing lunch for students at Dak Mon Secondary School are very meaningful, helping the school improve the attendance rate to over 90%.
