Thao My - Thao Vy help Vietnam basketball team win the opening match of the Asian championship

In this afternoon's match, the Vietnamese basketball team, including Thao My, Thao Vy and Tieu Duy, faced a big challenge from the Iranian girls. The fast and well-defended opponents made it difficult for Vietnam to attack. Even after an impressive initial run, Vietnam was led 5-6.

But with the ability to make accurate long throws and actively win the ball, Thao My and Thao Vy helped the Vietnamese team successfully reverse the situation. The consecutive long throws helped Vietnam create a safe distance from the opponent.

With 1.5 seconds left in the match, the score was 17-16 in favor of Vietnam. At that point, Iran's chances were almost gone, but Vietnam still scored 2 more points to end the match with a 19-16 victory.

Of the team's total points, Thao My and Thao Vy accounted for 18 points. The remaining points belonged to Tieu Duy when she successfully laid-up the ball without being marked by anyone. This shows the irreplaceable role of the Truong sisters in the Vietnamese 3-person basketball team.

Truong Thao My (Kaylynne Truong) and Truong Thao Vy (Kayleigh Truong) were born on July 10, 2001. They are twin sisters whose parents are Vietnamese. However, both were born and raised in Houston, Texas, USA.

Thao My and Thao Vy played for the first time for the Vietnamese national team at the ABL 3x3 International Champions Cup (ABL ICC 2022). Then, at the 31st SEA Games at home, together with Huynh Thi Ngoan and Tran Thi Anh Dao, the Truong sisters brought home the Silver Medal in the 3x3 event.

After that, Thao My, Thao Vy, Huynh Thi Ngoan and Tieu Duy continued to shine in Cambodia when they helped the Vietnamese women's 3x3 basketball team win a historic gold medal at the 32nd SEA Games. To date, this is the only gold medal in basketball for Vietnamese sports.

Recently, Thao My joined Henan club, a potential club in the Chinese women's professional league. Meanwhile, Thao Vy is currently playing for PaoK club in Greece.
