Thanh Hoa's Le Xuan Manh, champion of the Road to Olympia contest, received a prize of 200 million VND, twice as high as the prize for an international Olympic gold medal.
The Secretary and Chairman of Thanh Hoa Province awarded Manh at a commendation ceremony on the afternoon of October 9. The 12A1 student at Ham Rong High School is the first student in the province to win the Road to Olympia competition.
The 200 million VND is also a record bonus for an excellent student in Thanh Hoa province. According to the province's reward policy, students who win gold medals at international Olympics are only awarded 100 million VND, and national first prize is 12 million VND.
Le Xuan Manh was moved and thanked his family, teachers, friends and provincial leaders for their care, encouragement and strength to help him succeed.
"Olympia is a long and difficult journey, having to overcome hardships, pressure and anxiety, but the school has created the best conditions for me...", Manh said.
Mr. Do Trong Hung, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, acknowledged Le Xuan Manh's efforts and efforts in studying and the teachings of the teachers of Ham Rong High School. Mr. Hung said that Thanh Hoa is proud to be a land of studiousness, hard work and respect for human morality. He hopes that the male student will continue to cultivate moral qualities, strive to excel in studying and researching, conquer new heights of knowledge, and contribute to building his homeland.
In addition to Manh, Thanh Hoa province awarded certificates of merit and prizes to the Ham Rong High School and 6 teachers for supporting him in the Road to Olympia contest organized by Vietnam Television.

On the morning of October 8, Le Xuan Manh won the Olympia championship in a dramatic final match.
For more than half of the match, Manh played poorly and seemed to have been eliminated from the race for the laurel wreath. When entering the Finish Line round, the male student had 100 points, while the leader, Trong Thanh, had 215 points. However, Manh won 90 points in this round, creating a turning point. The male student then answered correctly and took 30 more points from another contestant's question pack, finally winning with 220 points.
"Before entering the final round, I thought I would do my best and it really paid off. A victory requires both knowledge and luck. I think I had both," Manh told VnExpress after the match.
With this victory, the male student received a prize of 50,000 USD (1.2 billion VND), which will be converted into tuition and living expenses while studying abroad. The male student said he has not decided whether to study abroad or not.
