Visit Uncle Ho's Relic Site in Northeastern Thailand

VOV.VN - The President Ho Chi Minh relic site was built on an area of ​​nearly 10,000 square meters in Noong On village, Muong town, Udon Thani province, northeastern Thailand. This is the first relic site about Uncle Ho and his revolutionary activities in Thailand during the period of 1928-1929.

About 10km west of Udon Thani city centre, the Ho Chi Minh Relic Site is a famous local tourist attraction and a source of pride for overseas Vietnamese as it preserves memories, memorabilia and images of Uncle Ho. The highlight of the Relic Site is the replica of the house where Uncle Ho lived and worked during his revolutionary activities.

The Ho Chi Minh relic site is divided into two parts, including the Sawmill and the Multi-purpose Area. The Sawmill, where Uncle Ho stopped to live and conduct revolutionary activities in 1928-1929, was restored with a three-room thatched main house: the middle room was a meeting and study area; the left room had a set of wooden tables and chairs where Uncle worked, in the corner was a small bed; the right room had a wooden bench running the length of the house as a resting place for comrades.

The house and its furnishings are restored to look almost identical to Uncle Ho's previous house.

The simple, rustic everyday items that Uncle Ho used during his time in Thailand are displayed in the Relic Site.

The whole scene of the relic site is reminiscent of the scenery at the memorial site in Sen Village, Nghe An. It is also the hometown of Uncle Ho.

Mr. Pham Duc Dau, Head of the Management Board of President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site, shared that in recent years, the Relic Site has become one of the famous tourist destinations and attracts many visitors to Udon Thani province, welcoming about a few dozen visitors each year, contributing to making this province the capital of the Northeast region of Thailand in terms of economy, culture and tourism.

In the Multi-purpose Area, the main room has an altar of Uncle Ho with a bronze statue of Uncle Ho in traditional style.

This is an address for many generations of Vietnamese people as well as Thai people to come to remember and learn about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh, serving the common activities of the community, contributing to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Vietnamese people in Thailand.

This is the first project about President Ho Chi Minh in Thailand, built with the efforts and contributions of overseas Vietnamese. After that, there were memorial sites for Uncle Ho in Nakhon Phanom and Phichit provinces.

The relic site is a gathering place for overseas Vietnamese during holidays, Tet, Uncle Ho's birthday, and National Day September 2.

The gallery is currently preserving many valuable images and documents: Stories about President Ho Chi Minh's activities in Thailand; President Ho Chi Minh's handwriting when he was in Thailand; President Ho Chi Minh's speech to Thai expatriates returning home on January 10, 1960; a model of Uncle Ho's stilt house...

In July 1928, when returning from Europe to Siam (Thailand), after a journey from Bangkok, stopping briefly in Phichit province, Uncle Ho decided to stay and build a revolutionary movement in Noong Bua village, Muong town, Udon Thani province with different names such as Ong Tho, Nam Son, Thau Chin...

A short time later, Uncle Ho moved to Noong On village and advocated expanding the organization and strengthening the mass base, so that the Siamese people would have more sympathy for the Vietnamese revolution and the Vietnamese people, including overseas Vietnamese. He also taught people to respect the customs and practices of the Siamese people, while at the same time maintaining Vietnamese culture, encouraging everyone to learn Siamese, write Vietnamese, and speak Vietnamese.

Along with building the organization, Uncle Ho also spent a lot of time translating theoretical books as propaganda and training materials for Vietnamese cadres working here. He also helped overseas Vietnamese dig wells, break ground to grow vegetables, raise chickens and pigs, increase production, and improve their lives.

Coming to Udon Thani to visit the Ho Chi Minh Memorial, the Vietnamese community in Thailand has deep feelings for tourists. Affectionate eyes, never-ending handshakes.

In addition to its cultural and historical significance, the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in Udon Thani is also a vivid symbol of the friendship between the people of Vietnam and Thailand, and the sincere respect of the Thai people and overseas Vietnamese for Uncle Ho and the Vietnamese people.
