According to a VNA reporter in Thailand, on the evening of September 26, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen (Thailand) solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Day.

The ceremony was attended by Counselor Bui Thi Hue, governors and deputy governors of many provinces in the Northeastern region of Thailand, representatives of the Chinese and Lao consulates general in Khon Kaen, and many overseas Vietnamese from all over Thailand.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Thanh Trung, in charge of the Consulate General of Vietnam in Khon Kaen, said that the National Day celebration on September 2 this year is also an occasion for the State and people of Vietnam to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the implementation of President Ho Chi Minh's will and the 55th anniversary of his death. Over the past 55 years, President Ho Chi Minh's will has always accompanied and will forever be the flag gathering the strength of national unity, has been and will continue to give all Vietnamese people an iron determination, strong belief in the great strength of the Vietnamese nation, the strength of justice and truth that nothing is more precious than independence and freedom, to join hands to build a more dignified and beautiful Vietnam as beloved President Ho Chi Minh always expected.

Mr. Tran Thanh Trung expressed his great joy and pride in seeing that over the past year, the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Thailand has continued to develop in depth, quality and efficiency. Thailand is a friend and an important strategic partner of Vietnam in the region, and is the first ASEAN country to establish a strategic partnership with Vietnam and is also the only country with which Vietnam has a joint government meeting mechanism. Economic, trade and investment cooperation has achieved outstanding results, becoming a bright spot in the current relationship between the two countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Thailand is the largest trading partner and the 9th largest investor out of 140 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with a total registered capital of nearly 14 billion USD. Cooperation in culture, tourism, education and training, and people-to-people exchange has developed strongly, contributing to enhancing understanding between the two countries. The Vietnamese community in Thailand with more than 100,000 people is supported by the Thai Government to create favorable conditions to actively contribute to the development of Thailand and is an important bridge connecting the people of the two countries.

The Consul General assessed that Thailand and Vietnam are both facing new and intertwined opportunities, believing that the two countries will make good use of the opportunities to overcome challenges and continue to achieve greater achievements in the renovation process, bringing an increasingly prosperous and happy life to the people, contributing positively to peace, stability and development in the region and the world. On this occasion, Mr. Tran Thanh Trung expressed his deep gratitude and sincere thanks to the King, Queen and members of the Royal Family, the Government and the people of Thailand for always sharing and helping Vietnam as well as supporting the development of Vietnam-Thailand relations.

Expressing his honor and joy at the ceremony, Mr. Jirasak Seehamat, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province, highlighted the long-standing historical relationship, close ties like brothers and neighbors between the people of Thailand and Vietnam. He said that Khon Kaen is currently one of the localities with a large number of Thai-Vietnamese people living in Thailand, where Thai and Vietnamese citizens live together in harmony and happiness in a traditional culture with many similarities between the two peoples.

Mr. Jirasak affirmed that since the official establishment of diplomatic relations, Thailand and Vietnam have always been good friends, cooperating together, building friendship, creating practical benefits and sharing joy and happiness. In particular, in Khon Kaen, where the Vietnamese Consulate General is located, cooperation, exchange and academic exchanges between localities in the Northeast of Thailand and provinces and cities of Vietnam have taken place continuously and regularly, contributing to promoting increasingly good and substantive cooperation in all fields between the two countries.

On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, on behalf of the government and people of Khon Kaen province, Mr. Jirasak also sent his best wishes for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries to develop sustainably, prosper and be successful in all fields.

In the intimate atmosphere of celebrating the nation's Independence Day, distinguished guests and overseas Vietnamese enjoyed dishes with the flavors of their homeland and sang songs praising Uncle Ho and their homeland.
