Warm Tet of Lao and Cambodian people

Visiting, giving gifts, providing medical examinations and medicine to Lao and Cambodian people in border provinces... are meaningful activities of many Vietnamese localities on the occasion of the traditional New Year Bun Pi May and Chol Chnam Thmay of the two neighboring countries. Thereby contributing to further strengthening the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam - Laos, Vietnam - Cambodia in general and the localities in particular.

On the occasion of the traditional Bunpimay New Year of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, for 3 days (from March 26 to March 28), the Military Command of Quang Nam province visited, gave gifts, examined and distributed medicine to the people of Lao ethnic groups in Ka Lum district, Sekong province (Laos).

The delegation presented 300 gifts to the people of the villages: Ta Vang, Keo, Bha'Le, A Ching, Pa Noon, Abul. Each gift worth 500 thousand VND includes necessities such as: rice, instant noodles, fish sauce, salt, MSG, cooking oil, dried fish... to help the people here celebrate a joyful and warm traditional Bunpimay Tet.

The delegation also presented 30 gifts to village elders, village chiefs, deputy chiefs, and prestigious people in the community. In addition, the medical team of the Quang Nam Provincial Military Command also coordinated with the Quang Nam Department of Health to organize medical examinations and provide free medicine to more than 800 people. The total cost for these activities was 350 million VND.

In An Giang, on March 27-28, the provincial delegation led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, visited and congratulated the traditional Chol Chnam Thmay New Year of the Cambodian people in several provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia including Kampong Chhnang, Takeo, Kandal.

At the meetings, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy wished the leaders, armed forces and all people of the provinces good health, peace, prosperity, success in work; and continued to achieve many great achievements in the cause of local construction and development.

She hopes that An Giang and Cambodian localities will continue to closely and effectively coordinate in maintaining security and order along the border, creating favorable conditions for people on both sides to exchange goods, seek investment cooperation opportunities, and develop production. Along with that, continue to cooperate in many fields in the coming time.

Previously, on March 26-27, a medical team from An Giang Provincial Police led by Colonel Nguyen The Hai, Deputy Director of the Provincial Police, visited and provided free medical examinations, medicine, and gifts to Cambodian people and Cambodians of Vietnamese origin in difficult circumstances in Sam Peou Poun ward, Sam Peou Poun city, and Preaek Dach commune, Leuk Daek district, Kandal province, Kingdom of Cambodia.

At the places they visited, the doctors and nurses examined and prescribed medicine for 600 people. Through the examination, the doctors and nurses promptly discovered and advised on how to prevent and treat some of the main diseases that people here often encounter, including: high blood pressure, diabetes, stomach, cardiovascular, respiratory, skin diseases... The delegation also gave each person who came for a medical examination a gift including: rice, soy sauce, instant noodles and other essentials for daily use.

On March 26, a working delegation from Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh provinces also visited and extended New Year greetings to the government, armed forces and people of Tbong Khmum province, Kingdom of Cambodia.

At the meeting, Binh Phuoc Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Manh Cuong hoped that Tbong Khmum province would continue to strengthen comprehensive cooperation in ensuring security and order in border areas, fully implement the framework agreements between the two countries and create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises in the investment process. Thereby, contributing to fostering peaceful, friendly and stable relations, for the prosperous development of the people of border provinces in particular, and Vietnam and Cambodia in general.

Tbong Khmum Provincial Governor Cheam Chansoprn suggested that Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh continue to promote exchange activities in the fields of education, health care, and investment attraction to create new momentum for development in the border area.
