Le Quy Dong is an outstanding cultural celebrity of Vietnam.

For more than 30 years as an official, he was always highly regarded by the Le - Trinh court and placed in important positions, the highest position being Ta Hieu Diem (acting Prime Minister). With the ambition of saving the country and the world, Le Quy Don always wanted to implement reforms and establish laws to restore order so that the country could be stable and prosperous, and the people could enjoy peace.

Not only stopping at domestic level, the period that researchers often mention about Le Quy Don's outstanding contributions is the diplomatic trip to China (1760-1762).

During this trip, Le Quy Don interacted with many famous scholars, convinced them about the culture and civilization of Vietnam, and at the same time gathered knowledge from different civilizations, expanding his understanding of the world. His achievements during the diplomatic trip not only affirmed the value of national culture but also contributed to enriching his own knowledge, laying the foundation for later research works.

In the context of the rebellion of the arrogant soldiers, the extremely chaotic court, and the people suffering from hunger, Le Quy Don fell seriously ill. After that, he asked to return to his mother's hometown, Nguyen Xa village (Duy Tien district, Ha Nam province) for treatment, but could not recover. He died in 1784, at the age of 58.

Deeply mourning the talented and virtuous man, Lord Trinh Tong suggested to King Le Hien Tong to postpone the court for three days and appointed Bui Huy Bich to preside over the funeral. At the same time, he posthumously awarded Le Quy Don the title of Minister of Public Works. When King Le Chieu Thong took power, he was awarded the title of Dinh Quan Cong.

In the eulogy read at Le Quy Don's funeral, Tham Tung Bui Huy Bich, both as a representative of the Le - Trinh court and as a representative of the generations of students who had studied with Le Quy Don, wrote: "Extensive knowledge, outstanding literature, the most intelligent of his generation, tireless in his writings. In the past two hundred years, our country has only had one person like him...".

With his marks and contributions, his name was given to many specialized schools and other high schools in Vietnam, as a source of motivation for generations of students to try, strive and follow, including Le Quy Don specialized high schools in Da Nang, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Dinh, Dien Bien, Khanh Hoa, Lai Chau, Ninh Thuan, Quang Tri.
