On the morning of November 9, Hanoi will temporarily suspend the operation of the elevated section of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station urban railway line from 5:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the same day. After that, the train will operate normally.
According to Hanoi Metro representative, the suspension is to serve the organization of commercial operation ceremony and the installation of the inauguration sign to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station Urban Railway Line.
Urban railway project No. 3, Nhon - Hanoi station section is 12.5 km long, with 8 elevated stations and 4 underground stations. Of which, the elevated section Nhon - Cau Giay is 8.5 km long, the underground section Cau Giay - Hanoi station is 4 km long.
The project started in 2009 and was scheduled to be completed in 2015, but the schedule was delayed many times and is expected to be completed in 2027.
When put into operation, the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station elevated metro section will operate with a frequency of 16 trips/hour in both directions during peak hours of the day, reaching a maximum of 7,552 passengers/hour/direction.
The elevated metro line has a route that goes straight into the center of the capital, passing through densely populated residential areas with high construction density, many high-rise buildings, offices, and many schools and universities.
It is expected that the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station urban railway line will be extended, continuing to go underground under Tran Hung Dao Street and down to the south of Hanoi to Hoang Mai, adding 8km underground.
This extension will be financially supported by European donors, the French Development Agency, the European Investment Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
