Increase oversight for advisory boards

On December 6, the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee held a conference to review the activities of the Advisory Councils (ACCs) of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee for the 2019-2024 term. Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the City Fatherland Front Committee chaired the conference.

Improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the Board of Directors

In the 2019-2024 term, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city established 5 Councils: Democracy and Law, Culture - Society, Economy, Religious Affairs, Synthesis and Analysis of Public Opinion. Over the past 5 years, the Councils have proactively received and promptly reflected opinions of all walks of life; contributed opinions to important draft laws of the State, national programs on social security, draft Resolutions of the City People's Council, Programs and Projects of the City People's Committee; reflected opinions and recommendations of people related to the development of policies, laws, and specific mechanisms of the city... Typically, the Council of Democracy - Law has advised and participated in 32 supervision sessions of the Standing Committee of the City Fatherland Front Committee, attended more than 40 social criticism conferences on draft Resolutions of the City People's Council, socio-economic Programs, Plans, and Projects of the City People's Committee...

Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong, Chairwoman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee, spoke at the conference.

Assessing the performance of the Board of Directors, Mr. Vu Thanh Vinh, member of the Board of Directors of Democracy and Law, said that our country is entering a new era, an era of national development, requiring the people in general and the Front in particular to further innovate the work of Party building, government building, supervision and social criticism. Therefore, the Fatherland Front at all levels needs to grasp the situation of the people as well as improve and enhance the performance of the Board of Directors. Thereby, contributing to improving the effectiveness, efficiency, supervision and social criticism of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
“During the past term, the members of the Board of Directors have made certain efforts to assist the Standing Committee of the City Fatherland Front with issues related to the tasks of the Board of Directors. The members of the Board of Directors are all enthusiastic, responsible, and devoted to the development of the capital and the country,” Mr. Vu Thanh Vinh shared.

Mr. Dinh Hanh, Chairman of the Economic Council, proposed that citizen reception and complaint and denunciation settlement should be made more effective. Regarding the annual monitoring plan as well as the settlement of citizen complaints and denunciations by the District and County Fatherland Front Committees, reality shows that there is no consensus on the outline, forms and some basic criteria for State management. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a unified outline and form for all 30 districts and counties when monitoring.

According to Mr. Le Van Hoat, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Council for Democracy and Law, in the past term, the Standing Committee has made significant progress in quality. The members of the Standing Committee are all dedicated and responsible people. Before each review conference, the members of the Standing Committee are provided with full information with smooth coordination between the departments and offices of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Standing Committee. However, in the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front needs to innovate the supervision process; it is necessary to bring the voice of the people to the review conference. To do that, the Standing Committee must go to the grassroots, penetrate into reality, and address the issues that the people are concerned about in order to organize supervision. Thus, the supervision of the Standing Committee is closer to the people, closer to the people, supervising the issues that the city needs, the city's Fatherland Front needs.

Gathering the strength of the great solidarity bloc

Speaking at the conference, Chairwoman of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee Nguyen Lan Huong affirmed that after a working term, the city Fatherland Front has organized a summary, listened to the opinions of the Board of Directors to evaluate the results, lessons learned and proposed solutions to further improve the quality of the Board of Directors' activities in the coming term. The opinions expressed at the conference were profound, setting conditions for the city Fatherland Front to improve the quality and effectiveness of the Board of Directors' activities as well as to absorb in order to concretize and perfect the reporting mechanism and directions and tasks in the coming time.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Huong emphasized that the city's Fatherland Front has just successfully organized the 18th Congress of the Hanoi City Fatherland Front, leaving a positive and clear impression, highly appreciated by leaders at all levels, the people of the capital and member organizations; recognizing the role of the Fatherland Front as the center to gather the strength of the great national unity bloc. From there, joining hands with the city to carry out many important tasks of the term. In particular, the imprints in social supervision and criticism activities cannot be mentioned without the contribution of the Standing Committee. Many important activities and events of the Front have the active and dedicated participation of experts and scientists in the Standing Committee. “Hopefully, in the next term, with their experience, rich practical capital and personal prestige in the community as well as in the workplace, the Board of Directors and members of the Board of Directors will continue to think and contribute to help the Standing Committee have more information to participate in important meetings of the city,” said Ms. Lan Huong.

On this occasion, the Hanoi City Fatherland Front Committee awarded certificates of merit to members of the Board of Directors who have contributed to the work of the Front, term 2019-2024.
