Increase promotions, stimulate demand during Tet

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just issued a Directive on implementing solutions to stimulate consumption and promote domestic market development during the Lunar New Year and the first quarter of 2025.

Accordingly, the key task of units during this Tet holiday is to ensure supply and demand of essential goods, stabilize prices, and prevent shortages and disruptions in supply that cause sudden price increases before, during and after Tet.

Notably, the Ministry of Industry and Trade requested units, enterprises, and distribution systems to strengthen the organization of large-scale, synchronous, concentrated promotional programs nationwide, creating a strong spillover effect, encouraging people to buy Vietnamese goods, especially during the Lunar New Year 2025;...

Encourage e-commerce businesses to implement promotional and discount programs, especially during Tet to stimulate consumption, apply cashless payment solutions, and implement incentive programs when shopping online to promote consumption;

Promote the implementation of activities to implement the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods"; Organize programs to bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas, industrial zones and clusters combined with sales trips to rural areas, mountainous areas, remote areas, islands, industrial zones and export processing zones to stimulate domestic consumption.

Special attention is paid to supplying goods to areas damaged by natural disasters in sufficient quantity, at reasonable prices, and with guaranteed quality.

Previously, on January 15, 2025, the Prime Minister issued Official Dispatch No. 02/CD-TTg on continuing to promote domestic market development and stimulate consumption during the Lunar New Year 2025.

The Prime Minister requested ministries, sectors and localities to strengthen solutions to connect supply and demand, boost production and business to meet domestic consumption needs; develop e-commerce and new effective business models; and link production, distribution and consumption.

Particularly in the field of Industry and Trade, the Prime Minister requested the Minister of Industry and Trade to further promote solutions to stimulate domestic consumption; promote production, ensure adequate supply of demand, avoid shortages and supply disruptions, especially for essential goods; support businesses in trade promotion, finding distribution systems, and expanding market share through programs to bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas and domestic fairs and exhibitions;

Strengthen the organization of large-scale supply-demand connection activities in all three regions, regional fairs to facilitate the participation of local suppliers and manufacturers, have practical promotion programs for consumers, promote the development of logistics services and domestic consumption of goods; promote modern distribution forms on e-commerce infrastructure.

Develop and diversify distribution channels for goods and services; promote and encourage enterprises and production and business units to increase the application of information technology and digital transformation in providing goods and services to meet people's needs and save production and business costs.

Actively implement programs and events to support people and businesses in purchasing and consuming domestically produced products and goods on digital platforms, e-commerce, etc.

Market records show that although retailers continuously offer promotions, the Tet goods market at the present time is still quite quiet.
