The quality of agricultural materials (AIM) plays an important role in the productivity and quality of agricultural products. Therefore, to ensure effective agricultural production, the functional sectors and localities in the province have stepped up inspection and examination of AIM production and trading establishments in compliance with legal regulations. Thereby, tightening the AIM business market, limiting the trading of counterfeit and poor quality goods in the area.

Mr. Tran Van Sy's family in village 8, Quang Phu commune (Tho Xuan) has more than 3 hectares of pineapple and some other short-term vegetables, so each crop must use a large amount of fertilizer and pesticides to ensure the productivity and quality of the crops. Mr. Sy said: "Although we come into contact with and use a lot of agricultural inputs, it is difficult for farmers like me to recognize fake and poor quality fertilizers and pesticides. Therefore, I often choose to buy from cooperatives or large distributors to be assured of quality and price."

It is known that there are currently 123 establishments producing and trading agricultural materials in Tho Xuan district. In order to ensure the quality of agricultural materials, limit risks and economic losses for farmers, Tho Xuan district has coordinated with relevant agencies to effectively carry out specialized inspections of establishments producing and trading pesticides, fertilizers and plant varieties in the district. Timely handle violations of agricultural material trading, contributing to raising awareness of law compliance of owners of production and trading establishments. In the first 4 months of 2024, the district inspected nearly 10 agricultural material trading establishments in the area. Through inspection, most of the business establishments have well implemented regulations on production, trading, and use of agricultural materials, goods with correct labels, origin, and specific price listing; over 90% of agricultural material trading establishments have professional certificates; 95% of pesticide business establishments have certificates of eligibility for business.

In recent years, the business of agricultural materials in the province has gradually become more organized; most of the agricultural material businesses have complied with the business conditions in accordance with the provisions of law. According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are currently 18 fertilizer manufacturing enterprises, 1 enterprise processing, bottling, packaging plant protection drugs and 2,248 fertilizer and plant protection drug businesses in the province. The variety and abundance of agricultural material products are favorable conditions for farmers to choose to invest in production development.

In order to strictly control the quality of inputs for agricultural production, in the first 4 months of 2024, the agricultural sector coordinated with relevant agencies to inspect more than 100 establishments producing and trading agricultural materials, plant protection drugs, veterinary drugs, and animal feed. In addition to business establishments with addresses and complying with state regulations on the trading and trading of agricultural materials, there are still many cases of non-compliance with business registration procedures and processes, failure to grasp the types of goods in the list of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, trading in goods whose labels contain images, drawings, writings, signs, symbols, and other information that is not true to the nature or truth of the goods; agricultural materials whose labels do not fully or correctly contain the mandatory contents as prescribed by law; Trading pesticides together with medical drugs... Along with that, because of the large number of business establishments, some agricultural material business establishments in rural areas are still seasonal, making the inspection and control work of functional forces encounter many difficulties.

To improve the effectiveness of State management of agricultural materials, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to coordinate with local authorities to strengthen propaganda and specialized inspections of agricultural material trading establishments; resolutely and strictly handle organizations and individuals producing and trading seeds, fertilizers, and pesticides of unknown origin and not ensuring quality. At the same time, strengthen training to raise awareness and legal knowledge on agricultural material trading as well as the harmful effects of producing and trading poor quality agricultural materials that affect crop productivity and quality. Continue to coordinate with police forces and market management in the process of inspection and control. For people, it is necessary to buy agricultural materials with clear origin and source at fixed business establishments, with clear and legal signs and addresses, and with certificates of eligibility for business. Limit the sale of retail plant protection and veterinary products at traditional markets, and those who come to your home to offer them... Thereby, contributing to improving productivity, crop quality and protecting the environment.
