(TN&MT) - On November 26, in Copenhagen (Denmark), with the consent of the two governments of Vietnam and Denmark, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of Vietnam Tran Quy Kien and Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz discussed the "Joint Action Plan for the period 2024-2025 within the framework of the Green Strategic Partnership and Comprehensive Partnership between Vietnam and Denmark".
The event took place under the witness of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and Danish Minister of Climate, Energy and Utilities Lars Aagaard. The Joint Action Plan marks a new step forward in the cooperation between the two countries. Through this, Vietnam and Denmark affirm their strong commitment towards a sustainable future, through comprehensive cooperation programs in many fields, from politics, diplomacy, economy, to climate and culture.
The Joint Action Plan is built on the solid foundation of two important agreements: the Comprehensive Partnership adopted in 2013 and the Green Strategic Partnership adopted in 2023. With a focus on promoting green transformation and sustainable growth, the plan is expected to bring about breakthroughs in bilateral cooperation.
The two countries will prioritize the following areas: Politics and diplomacy; climate, environment and energy; trade and investment; culture and people-to-people exchange.
In terms of politics and diplomacy, Vietnam and Denmark are committed to promoting green dialogue and closely coordinating at regional and international forums to address global challenges such as climate change and sustainable development. The cooperation not only helps to enhance the international status of both countries but also contributes positively to a fair and rule-based multilateral system.
On climate, environment and energy, the two sides will continue to promote the transition to renewable energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and enhance climate change adaptation. Joint initiatives, including offshore wind power and marine spatial planning, are good examples of effective cooperation between the two countries.
In terms of trade and investment, the Plan focuses on attracting green investment and expanding economic cooperation in areas such as high technology, sustainable agriculture and maritime transport. Denmark and Vietnam will support businesses from both countries to take advantage of opportunities from green value chains and advanced technologies.
Regarding culture and people-to-people exchanges, the two countries will continue to cooperate in the fields of culture, education and research, with student exchange programs and cultural projects to promote people-to-people relations and enhance mutual understanding.
The Joint Action Plan for 2024-2025 is not only a strategic roadmap to implement specific cooperation goals, but also reaffirms the commitment of both governments to support innovative initiatives that create conditions to respond to global challenges. In particular, both countries emphasize the important role of green cooperation in achieving sustainable development goals and building a sustainable, inclusive future.
The event marks an important milestone in the Vietnam-Denmark cooperation relationship. This is not only an opportunity for the two countries to strengthen their strategic partnership but also affirm their pioneering role in promoting green and sustainable development globally.
In the coming time, the two sides will continue to coordinate closely to effectively implement the contents of the Joint Action Plan, and periodically evaluate to ensure that the goals are completed as expected.
