Accordingly, the Food Safety Department received information reflecting on a suspected food poisoning incident that occurred at Le Quy Don High School, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, in which 5 students showed symptoms of stomachache and vomiting after eating lunch at the school canteen.
Faced with the above situation, the Food Safety Department requested the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Department to urgently suspend the operation of the school canteen where food poisoning is suspected to have occurred.
Along with that, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety organized an investigation and traced the origin of food to clearly identify the source of raw materials and food for processing facilities suspected of causing poisoning; took food samples and specimens for testing to find the cause.
On the other hand, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety detects and strictly handles violations of food safety regulations (if any) and publicly discloses the results to promptly warn the community.
In addition, the unit strengthens propaganda and guidance for collective kitchens and food service establishments to ensure hygiene and food safety conditions, strictly implement the management of food ingredients' origin, three-step food inspection, food sample storage and hygiene in processing stages.
In addition, the Food Safety Department requests units to strictly implement the contents of Official Dispatch No. 2487/BYT-ATTP dated May 11, 2024 and Official Dispatch No. 3113/BYT-ATTP dated June 7, 2024 of the Ministry of Health on preventing and handling food poisoning and strengthening food poisoning prevention.
