Only 2 hours away from Hanoi, Tam Dao town is a famous tourist destination and ideal for a short trip. Located on the mountain range of the same name, Tam Dao is charming with its primeval forests, waterfalls and murmuring streams.
This tourist town was first discovered by the French in the early 19th century and is famous today. Tam Dao Mountain runs from Khe Pass to Da Phuc, where the Northeastern arcs converge, dividing the natural border with Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen provinces.

The name Tam Dao originates from three mountain peaks that rise up like three islands, named Thach Ban, Thien Thi and Phu Nghia. Of which, Thach Ban has a flat terrain like a chessboard, 1,420m above sea level; Thien Thi peak has many protruding rocks, 1,585m high; Phu Nghia peak is 1,250m high, at the foot of the mountain is Phu Nghi pagoda.

Coming here, visitors can easily feel that this place has all 4 seasons in one day, with an average temperature of 18 to 25 degrees Celsius. In the morning, the weather is a bit chilly, at noon the sun is shining with the characteristics of summer, in the afternoon it is a bit chilly like autumn, at night the temperature drops low like winter.

Regarding cultural and religious tourism, Tam Dao has 103 relics, including 1 special national relic, 17 relics ranked at provincial level, and 85 other relics. Some famous relics include: the ancient church, Ba Chua Thuong Ngan temple, the temple of the National Mother Lang Thi Tieu, Truc Lam Tay Thien Zen Monastery, the temple of Duc Thanh Tran, the memorial site where Uncle Ho visited and worked many times (also known as the communal house).
