Education on historical and cultural traditions is identified by the provincial Department of Education and Training as an important solution in educating ethics, lifestyle and life skills, arousing the desire to contribute in students.
The Department of Education and Training has directed educational institutions to teach local subjects and educational content in many creative and diverse forms such as organizing teaching and learning experiences at relics, conducting lessons connecting with local schools with heritage, inviting experts and artisans to introduce heritage... Thereby contributing to raising awareness of the value of heritage, evoking pride and fostering love for the homeland for students.
Proudly named after Hero of the People's Armed Forces Nguyen Viet Xuan, Nguyen Viet Xuan High School (Vinh Tuong) constantly focuses on educating students about revolutionary traditions.
To help students approach and absorb historical values, the school has organized many diverse and meaningful extracurricular activities through art and drama programs. Works praising the Party, Uncle Ho, Uncle Ho's soldiers, and heroic moments in the nation's history are vividly recreated, creating a solemn but intimate and inspiring atmosphere for students.
In addition, the school organizes traditional talks with veterans and historical witnesses, reenacts important historical events, and organizes competitions to learn about revolutionary history. These activities not only help students access historical knowledge but also touch their emotions, foster national pride and a sense of responsibility for their homeland and country.
Ms. Pham Thi Hoa, Principal of Nguyen Viet Xuan High School, said: “With the goal of comprehensive education, the school pays special attention to activities related to important historical events. The school not only provides knowledge from books, integrates historical education through subjects... but also recreates historical contexts, helping students feel the hardships that their ancestors went through. Through that, students will love their homeland and country more, nurture noble ideals and national pride, and at the same time promote the spirit of solidarity, self-reliance and self-reliance in the era of integration and development”.
Nguyen Ha My, a student at Nguyen Viet Xuan High School, shared: "Through extracurricular activities on historical education organized by the school, we not only have a deeper understanding of our nation's history but also feel the sacrifices and hardships our ancestors went through during the resistance wars. These programs help me feel more proud of my homeland and grateful for the sacrifices our ancestors made so that we can have the life we have today."
Together with the education and training sector, the provincial Veterans Association also actively participates in educating the younger generation about revolutionary traditions. The Veterans Association at all levels promotes propaganda and education about revolutionary ideals, in conjunction with the implementation of Directive No. 05 of the Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; Directive No. 42 of the Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in educating the younger generation about revolutionary ideals, morality and cultural lifestyle in the 2015-2030 period.
To effectively educate revolutionary traditions, the Veterans Association at all levels focuses on compiling propaganda materials. The provincial Veterans Association established 18 propaganda teams to educate the younger generation on revolutionary traditions in districts and cities with 107 members. Since the beginning of the year, the Veterans Association at all levels has coordinated with the Youth Union and schools to organize 21 traditional talks with the participation of nearly 800 students, union members and young people.
In the coming time, the provincial Department of Education and Training will continue to coordinate and promote practical activities to foster revolutionary ideals, patriotism and awareness of preserving cultural heritage and homeland history for students, contributing to building a dynamic and responsible young generation to meet the requirements of sustainable development.
