Recreating 80 years of Army history in pictures

This is a historical book in pictures, recording the typical, outstanding, glorious, heroic features and the resounding victories of our army and people throughout the 80-year journey of building and defending the Fatherland.

The photo book is divided into 6 parts, presented in turn according to the historical process of the origin and growth of the Vietnam People's Army. Holding the photo book in hand, readers will be moved when opening the rustic, old images under the canopy of Tran Hung Dao forest in Nguyen Binh district, Cao Bang province, drawing the origin, marking the founding day of the Vietnam People's Army. There, the speech of comrade Vo Nguyen Giap echoes: "Under the red flag with the five-pointed yellow star, I hereby declare: The Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army is established and order you comrades to advance on the path of armed struggle...".

The book affirms to readers that in the 80-year journey since its establishment, the Vietnam People's Army has become increasingly strong and mature, together with the entire people overcoming all difficulties, challenges, and sacrifices, achieving glorious feats of arms, defeating all invaders, contributing greatly to the cause of national liberation, building and defending the Fatherland, worthy of the praise of President Ho Chi Minh: "Our army is loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Every task is completed, every difficulty is overcome, every enemy is defeated."

With the advantage of telling stories through images, the book gives readers a direct visual experience, evoking genuine emotions. Nearly 1,000 photos and illustrations in the book bring a unique appeal without duplication. It could be the emotion in the rhythm of "fighting firmly, advancing firmly" determined to win the final victory in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign; the pride when witnessing the maturity and modern progress of the submarine fleet of the Navy that is silently guarding the deep sea; or calming down before the image of officers and soldiers of the Border Guard in neat formations saluting the milestones on the immense green border of the Fatherland... There are many images in the book that tell us beautiful stories about the qualities and traditions of Uncle Ho's soldiers, tempered through two resistance wars and fighting to protect the Fatherland, continuing to shine in the cause of building and protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam.

The book “Vietnam People’s Army - 80 years of building, fighting and growing (1944-2024)” has special significance in systematically and logically recreating the history of our Army through pictures. The publication of the photo book is also an opportunity for officers and soldiers of the entire army to look back on the heroic and glorious history and be more proud of the tradition of determination to fight and win of the heroic Vietnam People’s Army over the past 80 years.
