On the morning of August 27, the 5th Hanoi Open Cycling Race - VietABank Cup 2023, organized by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with the Hanoi Bicycle - Motor Sports Federation, took place in the Hoan Kiem Lake area, Hanoi. This is an activity to celebrate the 78th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
The tournament attracted more than 500 athletes from 44 Hanoi cycling clubs and clubs from other provinces and cities. The race route around Hoan Kiem Lake, starting from Ba Kieu Temple area, passing through Dinh Tien Hoang, Le Thai To, Hang Khay streets and returning to the starting point.
The tournament includes 5 events for male and female athletes. For men, the competition is divided into 3 age groups: From 18 to 39 years old (20 laps equivalent to 34 km), from 40 to 45 years old (15 laps equivalent to 25.5 km), over 51 years old (12 laps equivalent to 20.4 km). For women, the competition is divided into 2 age groups: From 18 to 45 years old (10 laps equivalent to 17 km), over 46 years old (10 laps equivalent to 17 km).

The Hanoi Open Cycling Tournament is an annual tournament in a series of cultural and sports activities that Hanoi City has invested in. Last season (held in 2019) had the participation of over 300 athletes from more than 30 cycling clubs from provinces, cities and industries. After 3 years of suspension due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year, the tournament was held again with the number of participating athletes nearly doubled compared to previous seasons.
The 5th Hanoi Open Cycling Tournament with hundreds of athletes participating, not only contributes to promoting the cultural values of Hanoi but also ignites the spirit of sports, spreading a civilized and positive lifestyle in the community. In the coming time, the tournament will be a premise for orientation, helping to select athletes who stick with professional life, further the goal of high-performance sports.
