From May 12 to 19, 20 cases were recorded, an increase of 4 cases compared to the previous week. Since the beginning of the year, Hanoi has recorded 268 cases of dengue fever in 27/30 districts, towns and cities; 143/579 communes, wards and towns of the city have had cases. In the first 5 months of this year, the city has recorded 14 outbreaks of dengue fever in 9 districts including: Dong Da, Bac Tu Liem, Hoang Mai, Nam Tu Liem, Thach That, Ha Dong, Thanh Oai, Hoai Duc and Tay Ho.

According to the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC), dengue fever may increase rapidly in the coming time, due to favorable weather conditions for mosquito larvae and disease-carrying mosquitoes to develop. Currently, the number of cases is increasing every week, and it is forecasted that there may be more severe patients and deaths compared to 2022. Meanwhile, some district-level medical centers have reported some difficulties and problems that need to be resolved, such as purchasing supplies and chemicals to prevent the epidemic.
The leader of the Hanoi Department of Health said that he had requested the Hanoi CDC to strengthen inspection, supervision, and support units in implementing disease prevention work; notify risk indexes for each district, town, and high-risk area for dengue fever, and warn people; review sample testing, and agree with units on sending samples for testing to ensure effectiveness and timely response to disease prevention. Along with that, units have increased propaganda on dengue fever prevention so that people can voluntarily implement disease prevention measures for individuals and the community, proactively participate in cleaning up waste items that cause stagnant water, where larvae and mosquitoes develop, and cover containers of domestic water to prevent dengue fever.
In 2022, the whole city recorded 19,779 cases, in 30/30 districts, towns and cities; the number of cases in suburban areas accounted for 53.1%, the inner city accounted for 46.9%. 45% of patients were treated at hospitals and medical facilities at district and county levels; 29% of patients were treated at provincial and city hospitals and 21% at central level; only 5% of patients were treated at health stations and at home. The number of cases tended to increase gradually from 0 to 40 years old, mostly in the student and worker age groups.
