At 8:50 p.m. on August 23, responding to VTC News, a representative of the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) said that Long Thanh airport terminal and Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal are expected to start construction on August 31.
Long Thanh airport terminal and Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal have a total investment of more than 46,000 billion VND. Of which, Long Thanh airport terminal has a total investment of 35,233 billion VND and is built on a 150-hectare land area. This terminal is designed with one ground floor and three floors, a 46-meter-high roof with 40 parking positions for sewing machines. Long Thanh airport terminal is expected to be completed in 2026.
Long Thanh airport terminal has a unique design, inspired by the shape of a lotus flower. This terminal will be the main highlight of Long Thanh airport. Along with the groundbreaking of the terminal, the construction of a 4,000 m long, 45 m wide runway with a system of 2 parallel taxiways and many other projects will also be started on this occasion.
Long Thanh Airport has a designed capacity to serve 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo per year. The total investment capital of the project is about 336,630 billion VND. Of which, in phase 1, this project is invested 114,450 billion VND.
Along with the groundbreaking of Long Thanh airport terminal, on August 31, Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal was also inaugurated with items such as: passenger terminal, multi-storey car park combined with non-aviation services, overpass system. This project has a total investment of 10,990 billion VND. The expected construction period is 20 months, put into operation from the third quarter of 2025.
Passenger Terminal T3 is designed with one basement and four floors above ground with a total floor area of over 112,000 m2. This terminal has 90 check-in counters, 20 automatic baggage counters, 42 check-in kiosks, 27 aircraft gates (13 telescopic gates and 14 bus gates), 25 passenger security control gates...
Upon completion, Tan Son Nhat T3 terminal will serve domestic flights with a capacity of 20 million passengers/year, and can handle all code C and code E aircraft (wide-body aircraft).
On August 23, the interdisciplinary working group including the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Justice and the State Capital Management Committee reviewed the contents of the bid evaluation documents related to the proposal on package 5.10 - construction of Long Thanh airport. The review time began at 8:00 a.m. on August 23 at ACV headquarters.
