At the passenger terminal, runway, and traffic routes T1 - T2 of the Long Thanh airport super project, construction is still going on vigorously throughout the Tet holiday.
While every house is bustling with laughter and blooming peach and apricot blossoms, in the middle of the construction site of Long Thanh super airport (Long Thanh district, Dong Nai), engineers, workers, motorbikes and equipment are still working busily.
Hurriedly cleaning up after her shift, Ms. Nguyen Thi An, from Quang Binh, said that this was the second year she and her husband celebrated Tet away from home. "The children kept asking when I would be back, and my heart ached. But here, everyone stays because of responsibility, the progress is very urgent, everyone wants to contribute to the project's quick completion," Ms. An said.
According to the Long Thanh Project Management Board, to keep its commitment to the Prime Minister to basically complete the airport by the end of 2025, this Tet, nearly 70% of the construction force and nearly 3,000 pieces of equipment will be maintained at the construction site.
According to Mr. Duong Quang Dien, Permanent Deputy Director of Long Thanh Airport Project Management Board, construction units not only maintain progress but also pay special attention to taking care of the spiritual life of workers.
"This Tet, contractors organized gift giving, prepared special meals, and even held spring activities right at the construction site to encourage everyone. Even though we couldn't go back to our hometowns, we still felt the warmth of spring," said Mr. Dien.

At the passenger terminal construction site, Mr. Nguyen Minh Tam shared that he was quite sad because he could not gather with his family like every year, instead he stayed to work on the steel roof of Long Thanh airport terminal.
"I received a special gift, a letter from my son that my teacher guided me to write in class. He said, 'Dad, just keep working, I will be good and wait for you to come home. That letter is the motivation for me to keep trying,'" said Mr. Tam.
Similarly, engineer Le Minh Duan, who supervised the steel truss erection, shared: "We work continuously from morning to night and even on New Year's Eve without a break. The brothers here joke that the sound of welding and machinery is like the sound of firecrackers on Tet. We are all very proud to be involved in such a big project. Everyone is united so the work is very smooth."
While working hard, Mr. Ngo Trong Ngan, from Kien Giang province, said that this is the second year he celebrates Tet at the project site.
“Tet is the time for families to gather together, so celebrating Tet away from home makes everyone sad. But I feel proud and will try my best to complete my work during Tet to contribute my small part to bringing Long Thanh airport to its destination on time,” said Mr. Ngan.
The passenger terminal, the heart of Long Thanh airport, has completed the entire reinforced concrete structure of the underground part and four above-ground floors. Workers are rushing to install the steel frame of the central roof. Many items are also gradually being completed, the shape of the terminal with the image of a lotus flower stretching out has become clear.
In a corner of the runway construction site, Mr. Tran Quang Hai, with his calloused hands, still works quickly.
"I stay here just hoping to have more income this year so that my wife, children, and parents can have a more fulfilling Tet. The weather these days is quite nice, not too hot, so going to work is comfortable. After work, we cook and eat, which helps ease some of the homesickness," said Hai.
Like Hai, Nguyen Hoang Can confided: "My child is still young and needs to be taken care of by my grandparents. I also want to go home, but the progress is urgent and requires construction workers to increase production. Let's each do our own job so that the project can be completed soon."
Lieutenant Colonel Le Van Tien, commander of the joint venture for package 4.6 runway , said that in order to carry out construction during Tet, in addition to work, the unit has planned to take care of the lives and welfare of workers, ensuring a happy Tet on the construction site while still completing the task.
The Long Thanh airport project covers an area of 5,000 hectares and is expected to be the most modern aviation transit hub in Southeast Asia. To be basically completed by the end of 2025, key packages such as terminals, runways, taxiways, aprons, and connecting traffic are being accelerated.
