According to Neowin , the latest report comes from leakster Digital Chat Station on Chinese social network Weibo, saying that an Android smartphone with 24GB of RAM is coming soon. Although the specific name for the brand behind the product has not been given, Digital Chat Station said that "Oga" has started working to bring this RAM level to the market. Oga is the name referring to manufacturers Realme, OnePlus, and Oppo.
24 GB RAM on smartphones is considered overkill
At the moment, it is still unclear which company in the Oga group is developing the smartphone with 24 GB of RAM, only that this memory level will appear as a top-of-the-line option, while its standard variant will have 16 GB of RAM.
24GB is a lot of RAM for a smartphone, but is it too much? A few years ago, many people were surprised to see Android phones with 200MP cameras, but the high megapixel count didn't really change the game in the photography industry.
So it will be interesting to see how companies will interpret 24GB of RAM for the user’s workflow. While hardware requirements will depend on how the user uses the phone, 8GB of RAM is considered sufficient for most people. Meanwhile, those who want to future-proof their needs can opt for 12GB or 16GB. Even a dedicated gaming smartphone can get away with 16GB.
