According to the plan, from August 5-15, the expert team of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS), the consulting unit for the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, will conduct an official on-site appraisal of the nomination dossier for the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex as a World Cultural Heritage...
In preparation for this important appraisal stage, the localities in the heritage area, namely Quang Ninh, Bac Giang, and Hai Duong, have made early preparations. Accordingly, immediately after the official dossier of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex was sent to UNESCO at the end of January this year, the localities have implemented a series of tasks, from communication work, relic restoration, construction of signs, regulations, and rules...
The largest communication activity is the conference to disseminate information about Yen Tu Heritage Complex held in mid-May 2024, at Yen Tu relic and scenic area (Uong Bi city). Here, more than 200 delegates representing central and local management agencies, experts, scientists, relic management boards, representatives of the Buddhist Sangha, businesses, local communities of the 3 provinces, were provided with comprehensive information to have a deep understanding of Yen Tu, the history and values of Truc Lam Buddhism, and the story that this heritage leaves for future generations and for humanity.
For Quang Ninh, the province has directed the Provincial Media Center to carry out extensive communication about Yen Tu. Accordingly, the Center has developed a special, highly specialized communication plan about the Yen Tu Heritage Complex on all of the unit's infrastructure. Up to now, hundreds of printed, electronic, radio and television works have been published, broadcast, conveying vivid and easy-to-understand content about the special and outstanding values of the heritage to a large number of people and tourists from all over the world through the unit's channels.
Relevant localities and units of Quang Ninh have also actively participated. In particular, Uong Bi is the locality that owns the Yen Tu relic and landscape complex, the most important component of the nominated heritage complex. Since last May, it has deployed a political and ideological campaign "Pride and responsibility when the Yen Tu relic and landscape complex becomes a World Heritage Site" to each Party cell, mass organization and widely spread to all classes of people through many diverse forms, associated with the responsibility of the heads of branches, Party cells, agencies and units in the area. Dong Trieu and Quang Yen, along with propaganda and construction of standard signs, have also renovated, rearranged the worship and cleaning at the relics, especially those on high mountains, such as Ho Thien Pagoda (Dong Trieu)...
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Quang Ninh province is the same, not only educating monks, nuns and Buddhists in preserving, conserving and promoting heritage values but also raising awareness in implementing UNESCO's recommendations as well as the provisions of the Law on Cultural Heritage...
Sharing with the press, Mr. Pham Xuan Thanh, Head of the Department of Culture and Information of Uong Bi City, said that in preparation for welcoming the UNESCO expert delegation to conduct field assessments in Yen Tu, the unit has advised the city to focus on renovating the relic sites and sites, adding more signs, maps, diagrams, fully preparing planning, legal documents, management documents in construction investment, related to environmental impacts when building infrastructure, avoiding affecting the protected area of the heritage in accordance with UNESCO regulations...
Not only in Quang Ninh, in order to widely promote the values of the nominated heritage, Bac Giang and Hai Duong provinces also directed localities in the heritage area, relevant sectors and units in the area to strengthen extensive propaganda about the values of Yen Tu to many different audiences, from government leaders at all levels, relic management boards, monks, Buddhists, temple keepers, representatives of business organizations, business households, and people living in the heritage area.
These localities also did a good job of preparing to welcome the survey team, and at the same time, announced information about the nomination dossier for the general public to understand. Thereby, it aimed to clarify the story about the value of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac Monuments and Landscape Complex, spreading it widely to all classes of people, tourists...
