On the evening of January 28, at the Ho Chi Minh City Television Theater (HTV), the program "Forever Golden Bell" honoring People's Artist Kim Cuong was produced by the art troupe of Ho Chi Minh City Television.
During the honor night, artist Kim Cuong was moved to tears many times when memories flooded back. She was extremely happy and expressed much affection when talking about her mother - the late People's Artist Bay Nam.
People's Artist Kim Cuong interacted with the audience at the honor night on January 28.
Artist Kim Cuong shared that coming to the singing profession was a natural thing because when she was born, there were three generations of singers.
Artist Kim Cuong's mother is artist Bay Nam, her aunt is artist Nam Phi, her grandmother is Ba Ngoan, owner of Palikao theater, and her father is the famous manager Nguyen Ngoc Cuong.
Since she was in her mother's womb, she was nurtured by the music and lyrics of reformed opera.
When talking about her mother, artist Kim Cuong was moved: Mom created my body so I could be human, gave me a career so I could live on stage and gave me a heart so I could live life.
My mother is also the source of motivation for me to actively support the unfortunate with society.
During the honor night, the audience reviewed her artistic journey. In her youth, she was the girl who founded the Southern Drama Group with many classic plays: Durian Leaves, Under Two Colors of Ao Dai, Camellia Girl, Rose Pinned on the Shirt, Mother's Legend...
Having left the stage for nearly 20 years, her life has been devoted to charity activities. People's Artist Kim Cuong is currently Vice President of the Association for the Support of People with Disabilities and Orphans in Ho Chi Minh City.
Over the past 10 years, she has organized the "Gratitude Artists" program, taking care of the lives of fellow artists, sick and disadvantaged stage workers, and giving meaningful scholarships to studious children of artists at the beginning of each new year.
Mr. Phan Nguyen Nhu Khue, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, shared that People's Artist Kim Cuong is in the hearts of the audience not only as a talented artist but also because of her big heart that always reaches out to the community.
At the end of the honor night, artist Kim Cuong brought tears to the audience through the excerpt "Durian Leaves". Kim Cuong played the role of old Miss Dieu, co-starring with artists Huu Chau, Luong The Thanh, and Le Phuong.
The excerpt is short but leaves in the audience's hearts tears, laughter and tragedies imbued with the humanity of Kim Cuong's play.
Artist Kim Cuong was born in 1937 in a family of three generations of artists, her great-grandmother, grandmother and biological parents were all famous troupe leaders in Saigon.
Kim Cuong is a famous Vietnamese drama actress, film actress, playwright, screenwriter, and leader of the Kim Cuong Drama Troupe before 1975.
The classic work that made the artist's name "Durian Leaf" starred artist Kim Cuong as the main character and composer.
Artist Kim Cuong, along with Tham Thuy Hang, Thanh Nga, Kieu Chinh, and Mong Tuyen, was once known as the "wonder woman" of Southern art in the 60s and 70s of the last century.

During the honor night, the Vietnam Records Institute and the Vietnam Records Organization - VietKings awarded the Vietnam Record certificate to People's Artist Kim Cuong with the content: "Founder and maintainer of the program "Tri Am Artist" and the "Bay Nam" Scholarship Fund to support single artists and children of artists in difficult circumstances continuously for the most years" (10 years).
